They’re great in the snow. I had one in 1986 paid $4777 for it brand new. Little Baja car but got through a nice little snowstorm we had.

Great deal for a grand, you get unique transportation, that with some good care can do many miles. Modern car are like a box of chocolates you never know what you can get, they cost way more for everything, maintenance, insurance, etc. Having a car like this you forget of pain giver sensors, modules ,computers, and complex engineering. Is a good backup in case of your new vehicle brakedown or goes to the shop for service, you'll just need ties and wires to fix it.

I knew a few people who had these things, I drove one as well as a borrowed car. It's so damn basic you can't even imagine.

I guess you could say the Yugo was a modern day version of the Edsel. What would you call a 4 door Yugo? A WEGO. This reminds me of the Adam Sandler song,Ode to my car.😆

Here in early 2025 to say the Yugo was more successful than the Dodge Charger EV. It ran when delivered and was in the movie Dragnet. I'd drive a Yugo around town fer fun

So... a friend bought one and bragged that he bought a NEW car. The wife went to get the baby carrier out of the back seat and flipped the seat forward. It went too far forward and broke the windshield. Yeah, that happened.

This is hitting nostalgia in my brain in such a weird way. The one my dad bought in the early 90s when I was little looked just like this. I remember it being more yellow though. The door locks, the seat going all the way up to get in the back seat, and speaking of stuff not working, after my dad drove this for maybe a year, the brakes stopped working for I dont know what reason, so he used the e-brake to stop it for a few days before mothballing it where we would putt around in it occasionally after he bought a fox body Mustang and then it was sold by 95. I still remember other family members laughing at that car and saying how slow it is, but i didnt understand why as a 9 year old.

Lord have mercy, The hate on the yugo itself is unproven and not fact checked, Its a SingleOverheadCam SOHC engine, which alot of cars still run today, Its an Inline4 meaning it has 4 Cylinders, Almost Every car has these parts: Cylinders, Crackshaft and camshaft, So not every engine is like "So different" Every engine is built on the same principle, A yugo is a car produced in the 80s, For its time it was good, You cannot call a car made back then and right now "WORST CAR EVER MADE" Unproven of having bad "build quality" It has an engine, It runs, It works? it works, Has an interrior? Yes it does, what is so bad about it that americans have to call an 80s bad

Back in the first half of the 1990's, I had a friend in Bricktown, New Jersey who owned a Yugo. It was friggin hysterical how often it stalled and broke down. It seemed like every time I was in that car with Him, the car would ether stall, break down, or do both and He would start using profanity.

My Dad bought two of these new. One for him the white one and one for my brother the red one. My dad bought them because they were the cheapest car out there to buy, $4,000 new. I don't remember why they got rid of them. I do remember I hated them and didn't want one as I was offered a Yugo. People today don't understand how manuals back before the 90s could be hard to drive. This was one of those cars. ie; not going into gear. Even back then people laughed at them. These were truly bad cars and not worth it to buy.

Just watched Doug's latest review of a base model 86 Civic. It's funny that this POS Yugo had more luxuries than the Civic such as AC and a radio/tape deck. It's crazy how different a base model car has changed in the last 40 years.

In Yugoslavia, just having a Yugo was a luxury.
