Would these settings still stand for the latest (2024) OLED TV's??

Can you do a video like this for skyglass TVs please? If you haven’t already done one.
Thanks.

I love motuon smoothing, or motion interpolation. I dont think it cheapens the look at all. I agree with every other setting here though.

Even in the example smoothing on looks better. With “just scan off” it seems to crop the image. Seems like in is what would show more.

Great video, although I have one question. How can you turn off jutter? I watch a lot of (4K UHD) blu-rays and the judder during panning shots is insanely annoying. I can't seem to find an answer, and I hope someone can help me out.

I have to disagree about the snow. I live in part of Canada with snow 6 months a year and it's 100% that blue. Maybe there's pollution yellowing the snow where you live.

FYI I have a high end (120Hz) OLED and prefer watching my movies on my 2012 (600Hz) Plasma TV….Manufactures chase resolution because faster refresh rates are much more difficult to achieve.

I once had a TV that forced overscan on for all HDMI content, but allowed you to turn it off for the VGA signal.... WHY?? What dunce thought digital video needed to be fucked up by forcing overscan, thereby forcing the video signal to be scaled up so it couldn't display pixels 1:1? If your computer has a 1080p screen, set it to 720p. It looks like shit doesn't it? That's what my TV forced all video to look like because some bonehead thought it was necessary to force overscannning.

If you think a step further: It's clear that the initial TV settings are not perfect for a reality near picture but for selling TVs. Note that the TV comes first to the seller and he will put it up for display there. Reality is not a selling point, overly saturated colors and overly sharpened images are. Understandable that the first action you will have to do at home is change the settings to a reality near setting.

I one knew a guy who owned a tv and was showing off his live drone sending the live capture to the tv, and the sharpness was turned up to the max. It looked so bad but my one friend was like "wow" ......oh my goodness it looked so fake and artificial; I cringe to know that so many people get motion smoothing and oversharpening wrong. I get that some people may need the motion smoothing because of motion sickness, but unless you actually have vestibular problems or something similar, you need to train your eyes to watch content without fake motion smoothing. I once asked that same friend when i was at his house "okay so you like motion smoothing...do you notice a problem when going to the movie theaters without it?" He stood there thinking and slowly said no.... Its all because you have to train your brain to get use to it. Don't jump back n forth between comparing the two, just change it and just go a month having it off; if you are able to do that, then don't use motion smoothing (some of us get motion sickness from motion smoothing).

Sport/motion mode is the only way I can use my TLC tv. The TV somehow handles movement is a SUPER choppy way. It seem to be skipping or doing something weird to the image every frame that causes it to be SUPER noticeably chopping. All panning shots are very laggy and choppy. Only thing I could minimize this is with the sport mode. This is essentially motion smoothing BUT because the "native" video is so god damn choppy, it balances it out and the movement is natural-ish.

but I can see the same choppyness in these videos as well.... is it that I am so used to high framerates on PC that 24 just looks SUPER choppy? Cant be, because same media on my PC monitor does not have that laggy effect.

On the topic of motion smoothing:
I know it's the devil. I know it introduces artifacts. But when it's turned off, all I see is a jumpy image, or even black silhouettes on the largest moving objects on screen. I dunno. It's worse when I'm watching content that's 60fps or higher then go back to 24/30
