I'm moving to "no upper cabinets" for two reasons:
safety (my mother has almost managed to drop items on her own head several times)
and not having more space than needed will avoid overfill (at most, there's 6 people in at the same time; why do I need over 30 glasses? I don't, but I have several relatives who gift me glasses or cookware because "this item is so cool and she has the room").
And I expect this house to be sold by my heirs in about 30 years
Thank you so much for sharing, Excellent advice and tips. God bless you and your family, Stay Safe. on husband's account
Ответитьmy love..i love how u narrate with the humour..i was drinking my hot chocolate and saw the tiny kitchen island. i almost choked. love u..jelping me with my new kitchen
ОтветитьGlad to know you’re pulling through. I’ll be praying 🙏🏼. Love your content!
ОтветитьMy home my way.
ОтветитьStore compost in the freezer! Who on earth does this? Who even has space to do that even if they wanted to.
ОтветитьThis is not me being a Karen yet me just saying something because I don't know that you are aware of this. There are some people who have mental health disorders such as OCD with intrusive thoughts that may literally find themselves up all night because their brain won't shut up and runs and runs with a thought like figuring out a back splash or a number of other distressing things. I say this because that person does have a real problem and your very next words were something along the lines of, "for those who have a real problem." That comment could set off a wide variety of thoughts in the mind of someone struggling with mental health disorders that cause that kind of battle and distress. I am not fussing at you or upset and I get your humor in it.
Now back to watching the rest of your video.
Subway tiles belongs in a subway not in a kitchen.
ОтветитьJust a note about minimal/ floating cabinet space...
We live in the country and there are flies. I never appreciated cabinet doors so much until I realized how wondeful they are for protecting clean dishes from flies and dust.
Thank you Vivien! Just found you and really loved your videos so I registered immediately ❤
ОтветитьKitchen islands.
Stock installing sinks and cooktops in f**** islands
I have a very small 1950s galley kitchen with the old metal cabinets and unused corner, dining room doorway at one end & exterior door at the other end. We’re getting new cabinets. The base cabinets are: A slim 18” pantry with pullout shelves, a 12” pullout tray drawer, a 15” drawer cabinet, a sink cabinet, a corner lazy susan and a regular 27” cabinet with top drawer and pullout shelves. Glad they are selling door cabinets with pullout shelves.
ОтветитьI was so happy to see that your back , I always loved your videos. Wishing you all the best

ОтветитьBoring white & black kitchen colors is a hallmark indicator of a flipped house. Why are we removing all the character in the home? Because the "trendy" current flipper mentality.
ОтветитьStand alone Garbage so that you can use it when your hands are full.
ОтветитьI have never been keen on subway tiles. My personal preference is for plain, subtle splashbacks. Totally agree about not using tiles on a kitchen floor; or having two different surfaces between a kitchen/diner. Thanks for this very interesting video. Lots of good advice, thank you.
ОтветитьMy brother spent a lot of money on Betterhelp and it was a big expensive waste of time and money.
ОтветитьYou are smart to take care of yourself ❤
Ответитьvery helpful. What cabinets to buy if you love the traditional grroved look but hate that it is impossible to clean the corners of the grooves? I hate modern flat so what should I do? ALso how to buy sinks that don't splash I hate when that happens.
ОтветитьThe two islands in a kitchen looks so stupid
ОтветитьGlad I found ur channel.. these videos helped me thinking of common mistake most designers even make.. so as a common person , it’s basically the knowledge one shd hav rather than goin to whatever the designers says.. we might like to hav so many things at our new home but how practical we can go ahead ..is what matters.. thank you so much for ur videos.. 🙏🏼
Take care of ur health first 🥰.. we can wait 👍🏼
Love from Bangalore, INDIA
I would NEVER remove upper cabinets! I need them and want them reaching the ceiling
ОтветитьMy kitchen is my work space, not a design focus. Paneled appliances are very expensive and not everyone can afford the extra expense. We all wish to be able to afford high end appliances and design. Oh well
ОтветитьThese are not working kitchens-designed only for serving and reheating! Like dorm kitchens or hotel kitchens!
ОтветитьNo kitchen island! Use a thing called a table or cart!
ОтветитьI'm a senior. Let me tell ya all younger generation something. The day will come you will curse those lower cabinets. Bending over to dig around in those lower cabinets will take its toll on your back. Keep those easy access cabinets. You'll thank me when the back back, or arthritis kicks in. Lol
ОтветитьI would never put hardwood flooring in kitchen,... there is lot of water in kitchen, and sooner or later, something will leak. And in acordance of Murffys law, att when you wont be there to dry it before it will destroy your Hardwood...
In cases of Kitchen is part of wider open area, and you want luxury flooring, natural Stone(Granite, marble) is much better choice.
I have hardwood in my open kitchen. It is a nightmare. Kitchens are wet and messy. Things get dropped and cause dents. The floors in a kitchen are have to be cleaned daily and doing this to a hardwood floor is a pain.
ОтветитьA kitchen without cabinets just didn't look right imo. I like the look of nice cabinets.
ОтветитьI like a custom backsplash as long as it's done right and isn't "too trendy". The teal blue tile you showed, to me, looks nice. And it's different. Not something you'll see everywhere.
ОтветитьI like the look of a nice fridge and dishwasher in a kitchen. The panels are an unnecessary cost imo. Again, just an opinion, but let a kitchen be a kitchen. Nice appliances, nice sink and cabinets🤷🏼♂️ Good video though.
ОтветитьUnsightly agreed, unsanitary no. Read all the comments about how unsanitary cabinet trash cans end up being. I’ll take a low-profile step can in a corner any day compared to that cleaning nightmare on the regular.
ОтветитьHate hiding appliances. Looks so stupid and creates a guessing game. That will be so dated in a few years. Not sure you are on point on this video.
ОтветитьToo much grout.....nightmare cleaning.....dirt and mold. Best opt for a slab wiith hardly any grouting.
ОтветитьJust know, it’s easy to buy a Hoosier and use the top only and place it on the counter before staging the house for sale ❤
It’s so easy I did two. I also now have an „appliance garage.“
And those old solid wood cabinets are 40“ wide and 49“ long.
One only needs a couple of those!
I took out an island and added in a drop leaf kitchen table on wheels. It’s lower and we love gathering around it. ❤
IF you panel your freestanding fridge- its has to be whirlpool or KitchenAid sine they open on the 45. Most fridge do not. Paneling and existing dishwasher HMM depth with the panel might be an issue - buy a panel ready one to be sure.
ОтветитьAll opinions, lmao 🤣 😂
ОтветитьCompost in the freezer. ❤
ОтветитьThe only thing about paneled appliances, at least in the U.S., is that they are considered a luxury item and can't really be found for an affordable price. For instance, I'm shopping counter depth refrigerators right now and a nice high end SS one is around $3,000, while a panel ready one is $6,000. Both those prices actually make me choke because appliance quality, especially refrigerators is horrible across the board. Get ready to spend hundreds of dollars every few years to have the compressor and/or the mother board replaced. Or worse yet, have it fixed so often that you virtually pay for it again or just give up and replace it. Ask me how I know.
ОтветитьHope happy to see back. Stay well. ❤
Ответитьinstead of the 50/50 or 75/25 horizontal staggering of subway tiles, would it be better to do basket weave pattern with subway tiles? my cabinet colors are neutral (tops are off white creamish and bottoms are maple dark stained) so I think itll basket weave would be okay? countertop is very minimal as well
ОтветитьAre cup washers trendy and a mistake?
ОтветитьI'd avoid subway tiles, too many grouts requiring too much effort cleaning
ОтветитьLOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!
ОтветитьI do not like paneled appliances. Its not really something I would try to hide and seems tacky where I live. Many people will wonder why its a thing since they can't find your fridge easily.
Ответитьtrash bin needs to be easy to get at and NOT under a cabinet. SOB a kitchen is a functional room not a magazine display! enough of the magaexpensive kitchen crap. people need to use a kitchen and if they don't then turn it into something else. REAL people cook in a kitchen several times a day and that creates trash that needs to go in a bin not some hide-n-seek cabinet.
ОтветитьI hate subway tiles. If you’ve ever been in a subway, I don’t know why you would ever want your home to look like that. Subway tiles in a subway are ugly and they’re ugly in the home as well. I don’t know why that became a trend. They’re also boring as .. why not have something elevating as a backsplash instead of something that takes everything down a notch.
ОтветитьPanelled appliances often have buttons that are hard to use when being large handed, like i am
Ответитьare you ball ? !
