I remember a lot of games having bad or extremely misleading cover art. Like TMNT1.....all the turtles having red masks is what made me learn of the comics.....turtles3 had triceratons but they never showed up in the game....megaman,....well I assumed it was either an old comic or super early concept art. Which really did seem to be common back then.....look at toys especially. Toys back then rarely looked like their cartoon counterparts probably because deadlines were tight so they had to start making things before the final design was completed. That or American designers back then just didn't care and assumed it was only trends not franchises that last a lifetime. I mean, people that grew up in the 60's and 70's don't seem to care too much about their franchises.....probably because most of them sucked and lacked staying power. The 80's and part of the 90's were a time of great ideas that built loyal followings. Back in the day a handful of Marvel and DC heroes lasted the test of time.....The 80's literally was that level of creativity but 10x that.
Ответитьyou gotta redo this one my dude. Megaman is a staple and 30% of the video is intro song! Your video quality had exponentially leveled up over time
ОтветитьAlmost all of mega man is a copy of Neo-Human Casshern
ОтветитьRemember when Mega Man was popular? 😩
Ответитьwhat a coincidence. I love mega man and this was made on my birthday
ОтветитьHe doesn’t have a gun
ОтветитьHere from the "What facts did I get wrong video?" Yeah you can feel the AVGN influence. It's not unwatchable, but a remake wouldn't hurt.
ОтветитьIt’s so cool watching the evolution of your videos, thanks for all the great work!
ОтветитьI could listen to this guy all day 😁
Ответитьand by the way, Proto Man's Japanese name Blues is also named after musical refrence
ОтветитьWee little Norman from 2009 at only 6' 5" tall.
ОтветитьAmazing . I wish i watched it sooner
ОтветитьI agree with several other commenters that you should revisit this topic and give us an updated take on the history of Mega Man.
ОтветитьThank you something other than consoles I’ve never heard of accessories for systems I didn’t own and Mario
ОтветитьPlease do a new video on megam history🙏
ОтветитьYou should do an update on this.
ОтветитьWatching in 2022!!!
ОтветитьGlad YT TV recommended this and I wish I woulda seen this back when it came out.
But yes, an updated video would be awesome as well.
20XX and 30XX shows what a new Mega Man should be like. Sadly the original Franchise died out.
ОтветитьStill good 12 years later 🤷👍
ОтветитьPlease rate and subscribe this video. And don't forget to share it on social networking!
Also, why the Zelda music? 💀
Mega Man 1 and MEga Man 2's box art basically showed you that they didn't believe in the character enough to simply put the Mega Man animation on the box cover. Nor did they understand you can shoot people with an arm cannon rather than a 45.
ОтветитьMega Man's cover art looks like TRON
ОтветитьMega Man takes place in 2008.
I find it so sad that people in the 70's and 80's thought we'd be so far ahead by now.
We have iPhone and the internet, but everything else from flying cars, to moon bases to mars bases to teleporters and replicators never happened.
Mega Man's beginnigs (Late 80's)
ОтветитьI just watched the Mario Kart video before this and it was great. I would love for Mega Man to get a similar treatment.
It's true that there isn't much info about the making of these games. These companies are very tight lipped about it all. I would also love to learn how they were made technically. My dream would be to some day see and compile the source code from these original games which will probably never be made available.
My how you’ve changed lol
Ответить8 bit style mega man is the best style mega man

Hey, been a subscriber for a year or so. Have you ever thought about talking about the ports on the back of consoles? So many went nowhere, or were just used by third party developers. Sega used them pretty extensively, and arguably, it's what led to the downfall of their company.
Just a thought.
Big fan.
Jesse
You missed the part where MegaMan (Rockman) was going to be an Astro Boy game, but because they lacked the rights to Astro Boy and the color restrictions of the console at the time, we got Rockman instead of an Astro Boy game. And I'm glad for it. Rock, Roll, and Blues (Megaman, Roll, and Protoman) were intentionally named after musical terms because the creator loved Guns N' Roses. This is more evident in Megaman X, or one of the MMX games, where the bosses were named after the band members.
ОтветитьThis is an incredible channel, awesome work since then man, all the videos are great 😄
ОтветитьI do think the cover art had a negative effect on US sales.
I remember not even looking twice at the Master System Alex Kidd games because of the weird freakish cherub kid on the cover art. Big turnoff.
OK so I know this is am old video but I kinda just discovered your channel. I can explain the box art for part 2.
I met the artist who did the box art and he said the play testers showed him the game and he asked what megaman was using to kill the robots and the play tester didn't know and said a gun. So the artist drew him with a gun.
Also you need to do a more in depth video on this franchise. It's my favorite and your in depth videos like super Mario world are some of my favorite would love to see a new megaman video game
I'd like you do a similar history video, but for Metroid and Samus Aran. As in the first game in the series and the inception of Samus as a character. For such an influential game, it can be tricky to find details of its development.
...Well, maybe not a video EXACTLY like this. I definitely feel a strong Angry Video Game Nerd influence with the production values of this early video, Norman feels like a tamer, family-friendly version of the AVGN here. I'm kind of glad he grew out from there and formed his own identity as the Gaming Historian.
The US marketing branch definitely had no clue about the appeal of Comics.
Ответитьunderstand where the information coming from decades ago. but contrary to popular belief, mega man was actually created by akira kitamura.
ОтветитьLoving these video documentaries! Great stuff man!
ОтветитьI wish there was an updated version of this
ОтветитьOhmygod! This is a gaming historian video?! I had no idea until I looked at the title and information after the video ended. Crazy. Really crazy. I agree with everyone asking for more Mega Man bombing the blue way!
ОтветитьAWSOME
ОтветитьPatmanQC made a better video
ОтветитьWoah I didn't even know these videos went this far back 😂.
