Also Nintendo could have a timer set for like 20 years to skips the update required on launch models. Maybe they "update" is really just a welcome and sign in that just isn't live yet.

I hate that people are wrecking it for those who've waited, come along for the ride, watched every update and want to unbox it ourselves. I know you don't have to watch it, just silly. You'll lose your job for getting this out, so what's the point?

Nintendo generally did this with the Switch 1 but some later batches of it come with later versions of the firmware. While yeah, it does suck and I genuinely hope Nintendo is ready for the influx of people who are trying to download the update. But I'm willing to bet that it's just for the launch day switch 2s. later batches will probably have a later version of the firmware out of the box

As AI progresses, NVIDIA should be able to get more performance out of the switch 2, so I expect better looking games on the console during its life cycle

People crying about so many inane little things that I personally cannot wrap my head around. Oh, your console needs internet access in 2025? What a deal breaker 🙄🙄🙄 Oh, you can't use your console that you stole early because it's locked behind a patch? Poor little thief 😢 I really don't understand people who WANT spoilers, as they do exactly what they are called: They spoil the experience of learning and enjoying something brand new. The excitement gets absolutely sucked out of a new product when punks online do that kind of stuff.

I don't even care about the damn physical/game key/download nonsense. If I have access to the game, hooray. That's all I need. Plastic boxes aren't a collector's item in my book; they're clutter. People really need to re-learn how to focus on the positive, or just stop framing things that AREN'T even negative to act like they are. I, for one, am absolutely stoked to experience what this console has to offer on Day 1, and nothing and nobody is going to take that from me, try as they might, with all this nonsense drama.

Meanwhile in Russia they have already posted a full unboxing video and turned it on and looked at some setup settings...

Who's buying a Switch 2 in 20 years times and opening the box then? That's such a niche example.

I suppose the update is only going to be like what, 500MB? Shouldn't crash the server as everyone would download it in seconds.

Nintendo should have put those bank die packs in the Switch 2 box, and if the box was opened before June 5th, SPLAT, blue permanent die goes everywhere lol.

People who hack their consoles (especially later on) often require earlier firmware. Also I heard elsewhere that the firmware lockout is being overblown and it only applies to Switch 1 games. Switch 2 games can be played on Switch 2 out of the box.

I work in a shop in the north west of England, and we've just had forty switch 2s destroyed by a burst pipe (one of which was my pre order 😡).
I've spent today emailing customers to cancel their pre orders.

Look, we are going need a new 3D Mario game soon. Perhaps something like Journey or Galaxy 3. Does Galaxy 2 really need a remaster now? If it does, then do a new side for Roaslina, or do it in Galaxy 3 instead! Anyway, Donkey Kong Bananza is just rip-off Odyssey. It would be great to see DLC for Mario Kart World!

After a 6-year hiatus, Luigi’s Mansion 4 would be perfect. Luigi could save Daisy, Pauline, Rosalina, and Toadette for the first time, and the game could take place in an Airbnb!

Kirby Air Riders could be the holiday title. They could bring back the modes from the original game. King Dedede and Meta Knight are most likely returning, but Bandana Dee, Marx, Gooey, and the Animal trio would make the perfect cut! Adeleine and Ribbon deserve to come back, but since Sakurai is directing the game and he didn’t direct 64, they might not be in the game. He did the voice of Dedede, but still. Despite having his own story, Magolor may not make it since Sakurai didn’t direct his game either. I don’t know how this will turn out but we’ll see! I thought Sakurai was working on Smash Bros, but he was working on Air Riders instead?

We could get a Switch 2 Edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder with newly added content like Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star Crossed World. They could add a new side story mode for the poplins!

Mario & Luigi: Brothership needs a perfect Switch 2 Edition. I suppose they could add a new side story mode for Bowser Jr. and Buddy, or Wario & Waluigi could be added to game and they could be antagonists for Mario and Luigi!

Super Mario Maker 3 would suit the mouse feature perfectly! A Mario Wonder style would fit so perfectly!

You need the internet to pre-order the thing anyway. Odds are: everyone getting this thing on day 1 has internet access. The next round of Switch 2's may not even need the day one update.

Is anyone else over the “big switch news” every day that is just a whining about nothing that will have zero impact on the user or sales? Or is it just me?

You can’t even play the system yet so I don’t know why people are grabbing the systems. It seems that Nintendo didn’t do a very good job and holding the system back before the release date.

The day one update is out as of the 27th. Wario64 covered it on X and what is in the update. So if you have one you can technically update it but I am sure big N will brick your system shortly after as you should not have it yet. Looks like they are really going after leakers hard core!

Just touching on backwards compatibility, this is now my expected bare minimum for any new Nintendo console going forward or hell any company's console.

We invest so much into their E-shop and physical games that not being able to bring these with me for say the switch 3 or whatever their next console would be will be an immediate no buy.

Anyone that can’t play early should thank the people that are trying to mod, and break the system/ games. It wouldn’t be necessary if people could just keep it to themselves and enjoy a good thing in an honest capacity.
