I saw that it was a struggle, but thank God you pronounced it Eem-you, and not Eem-oo. It drives me nuts to hear Eem-oo. I don't know why, but it does. All logic says it should be Eem-oo, but logic flew out the window on that one. Thankyou for not driving me nuts
ОтветитьGood job, Kaitlyn. You are becoming a font of knowledge that puts us all to shame. ( PS After the army defeat in the Emu wars, a few years later the Emus started numbering up again. The Govern]ment went back to the Army, and asked them to have another crack at culling them as the farmers were still demanding some help. The Army said " Ah thanks, but no thanks! That's not the job for us!'"
ОтветитьCongrats for pronouncing emu like an Aussie, most Americans seem to say emoo. 😃
ОтветитьYou never want to see a person who has been stung by a box jellyfish. Currimundi Lake, Qld - 1995
Ответитьcheckout peacock spiders, they are tiny and really cute.
ОтветитьLook up what we have invented and you will surprised. Example the black boxes for planes was by an Australian. Also wifi was done by us too.
ОтветитьBased upon Warlpiri Tribal Customary Lore
Emu is the Female Lore (Lore Makers). The Women make the Lore and the Men Keep / protect the Lore.
Kangaroo (Malu) is male Skin Lore. Skin Lore is the First Lore on the planet.
Wow!! Congratulations. In my 70+ years I've known a lot of Americans but you are the first I've come across to be able to say 'G'day' correctly without an accent (Americans always seem to have trouble getting the second syllable right), and also the first to get 'Emu" right. Interesting video - you have a good sense of humour - you fit right in here like a native :) Thanks for the video,
Ответитьbefore watching: I'm hoping to see "it snows more than foreigners think" because I love snowboarding and people from America/Europe have called me a liar for saying we get a buttload of snow in the mountain towns.
Edit: yeah! number five!
Edit2: Here in Tasmania we uhh "won the emu war" for need of better terminology. Goodbye Tasmanian Emu rest in heaven.
I knew all these things but Americans did you know about any of these things?
Ответитьthat is true the kangaroo and emu were chosen because they cant go backward but a kangaroo can hop backward if they have to but its risky for them. Australia is bigger then the USA if you dont count those 2.
ОтветитьThere are only 2 carnivorous marsupials, the Tasmania Devil and the Quoll, both of which are mainly only found in Tasmania. The Quoll is a killer and the Devil is a scavenger.
ОтветитьIt's always been said that Melbourne has the largest Greek population of any city outside of Athens. That means it has more Greeks than Greece's second largest city.
ОтветитьYou get it so right.
ОтветитьYes we eat kangaroos and Emu and Emus will chase you at least you are enjoying being an honary Ausie take care👍👍👍
Ответитьthere are twice as many kangaroos in Australia then people
Ответитьweeelllll may be one day when you lose that accent you will be an aussie mate but I still love ya 🤣🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьThanks Kaitlyn, these are really good facts.👍
You are right, there are no active volcanoes on the mainland. This is because the continent is centred away from any plate boundaries.
However, there are actually two active volcanoes (apart from "Cyclops' wife" 🤣), in the Australian Territories of Heard and MacDonald Islands.
Salute to our Emu brethren we have since made peace with them
ОтветитьThe largest Greek community outside Greece is in Chicago. Not to downplay the role of Greek immigrants in improving the cuisine of old Melbourne town
ОтветитьVery nice Kaitlyn. Keep up the good work! 😊
ОтветитьYou are so interesting do you know 😉🥰
Ответитьi am sydney born and bred. i would love to see you do a Vlog or just video about the royal sydney easter show and what your thoughts are experiencing it for the first time
ОтветитьEdith Cowan was Oz's PM. And there is a university name after her in WA.
ОтветитьActually, Macadam Nut is originally from downunder.
Ответитьfact no 26 you can walk in any city at any time WITHOUT GET SHOT AT and killed !!!!
ОтветитьHi Kaitlyn, Australia does have a large volcanic area called the Newer Volcanics Province which covers an area of 15,000 square km in Victoria and South Australia. It contains over 400 small shield volcanoes and the most recent eruption was only 5000 years ago in the Mount Gambier district. Mt Gambier, Mt Napier and Tower Hill are considered to be still volcaniclly active and future eruptions are considered highly likely.
ОтветитьDid you also know Kaitlyn that Australia is wider than the moon, so I suppose USA would be as well.
ОтветитьHeard and McDonalds Islands are two Australian active volcanos.
ОтветитьSouth Australia was the first state to grant women the vote in 1898. It was also the first state to grant women the vote and allow women to stand for election.
ОтветитьAustralian camels are exported to the Middle East because they are favoured for camel racing. They are bigger and faster than Middle Eastern camels.
The Great Ocean Road was built by returned Australian Diggers (soldiers) after WWI.
A few interesting things about the camels, Australia has to only wild population of camels in the world, we have camel dairies (the cheese is nice) and we have camel races.
Ответить25 !
ОтветитьE-moo? Is that an electronic cow? Lol :p
ОтветитьI don't know how Kaitlyn keeps coming up with interesting topics but she is very good at doing so and also an excellent presenter. I enjoy her accent also and yet I have yet to hear her mispronounce any Australian expressions, and that is a surprise. Normally we can catch most nationalities out with our idiosyncrasies. Good going, Kaitlyn! However, don't forget that a large part of Australia's continuous growth as a distinctive community is people who come from overseas to live here and who add to local culture, just like you're doing. I think that acceptance of the new and the different is one of the things that makes our community stronger. I hope that the majority of our population will always be open to this acceptance of others and let's face it, we are all beneficiaries of this approach.
ОтветитьI think that you will find that the Great Barrier reef has its own Post Code.
ОтветитьCheck out the peacock spiders, the are brilliant!
Ответить“The Emu won” 😂😂😂 that sums up Australia!
ОтветитьIt's also illegal to take coral from The Great Barrier Reef. One of the contestants from the US version of Survivor got busted for it when they did a whole season in Australia.
Ответитьhello very nice
ОтветитьThanks for dome really instresting facts, I'm from Australia and I don't know some of those. Cheers from Melbourne 🇦🇺 🦘
ОтветитьLook up the numbers of feral animals in Australia, between camels, water buffalo, horses, donkeys, goats, pigs, dogs and cats they probably outnumber people. I can't remember exactly but I think there's millions of donkeys alone.
Ответитьyou have earned your stay mate!
like your vids
It's funny I've never seen a snake or a
Deadly spider and I was born in Australia...one thing or two we don't have is grizzly bears....brown bears...cougars who could eat you alive...nor tornadoes...cyclones...earthquakes...automatic guns...or guns at all really
There is one massive dormant volcano in Australia but it hasn’t erupted in over 5 thousand years
ОтветитьAt the time of Federation, there was a real dispute about which city was to become the capital of the new country - Sydney or Melbourne.. That was resolved by s.125 of the Constitution of the new country, which provided that the capital was to be in land granted for that purpose in NSW but at least 100 miles (160 km) from Sydney.
ОтветитьSouth Australia, prior to Federation was the second place in the world to grant women the vote, after New Zealand. Indigenous people could also vote in SA until 1901. This was then revoked for decades as part of an agreement made to enable Federation.
ОтветитьYes. There's no emoos. Congrats on the pronunciation of Koalas. Most Americans say Kowollas.
ОтветитьOnce upon a time, there were 12 sheep per person in New Zealand. Around 2015, it had dropped to around 6 per person as NZ had swung towards dairy.
I will note that I learned this fact in New Zealand in 2015.
