The problem with this scenario is that Yamato would probably never gotten in this close to Iowa. Iowa would have seen Yamato coming way before Yamato could do anything. I was on both the Missouri and Wisconsin (Whisky) and both ships were just massive. Those 16" guns were way more impressive in person. I once spoke with a man who was stationed on the Whisky at one time and he said the Iowa's would have taken out a Yamato at distance with accurate plunging fire due to the Iowa's state of the art fire control. He said an up close and personal slugfest probably wouldn't have happened due to this.

the uss iowa class had a fast shooting speed good armor speed and maneuvering mean while the ijn yamato has really outdated guns it's very slow its shells i dont know bunhy6jm7t i think its shells were worse than Iowas but Yamato at close range does have an advantage over Iowa but in this video why does it seem like yamato can keep up with iowas shooting speed?

Retired Navy Gunner here , US actually tested with 18"/45 and found that the sixteen was a better choice , the extra turret weight that would have been required was substantial and the 18" had minimal if any edge over the 16" .. Amazing the ballistics data they were able to determine without computers ..

I think that the USS Iowa would win this battle because of it's more powerful secondaries and thick armor.

Ok, the engine room.... ROFLMFAO. I mean it's animation things gotta move, but I am intimately familiar with Iowa's propulsion system, and very little visually moves down there except the shafts, and on rare occasions a reciprocating pump.

The outcome? That would never happen. Iowa would play to her strengths, and stay out of sight over the horizon, and at night radar still beats optics.

According to Wikipedia, although Yamato has higher tonnage than Iowa, Iowa is more Longer than Yamato. Whereas Yamato is Fatter than Iowa.

Overall, Iowa & Yamato would have dueled well if they were to engaged face to face.

In real life iowa is winner yamato only have 18 gun and better armour but iowa is faster and more accurate and have better radar and fire control and 16 gun pen easy to yamato armor

Iowa fire control was faaaaar superior to the yams. And the 16 inch guns had more power at impact then their 18s.

The Iowa also had a fast fire rate.

The Iowa had better flood control capabilities as well.
