I teach this very similarly but I like to use a chunk of string cheese and let them nibble. There' is less to maintain with dispensing treats.

ОтветитьThat is my goal... even my 8 year old can work our dog!! Looking forward to getting our puppy home 🎉 Love your work ❤
ОтветитьWalk walk! Excellent video.
ОтветитьSo you hold leash with right hand but walk dog on left?
ОтветитьA lot of internet trainers use prong collars. What is your thoughts on using them? Seems a bit cruel to me.

ОтветитьI have an ADHD Australian Labradoodle, three years old. Never had leash training. Does this work with a harness? What kind of a collar should I get if not?
ОтветитьWalk walk! :)
ОтветитьHi. I watch your training and it seems great. My first problem with trying this! My dog doesn't care about treats if he is on a leash. I can't get him to stop any behavior on a leash, treats just don't matter at that point.
ОтветитьWhat kind of collar add leash
ОтветитьHow do you do the pop of the leash
ОтветитьWalk Walk
ОтветитьWhat I’ve been struggling with is carrying this over to more distance, and also dogs as distractions. He loves dogs way too much, so that level of distraction is still way too hard.
Ответить-My son is ALL about the “walk-walk” while I am always tired & slow, so I encourage “sniff-ari walks” 😂
ОтветитьUnfortunately, that is very difficult to manage with a very small dog...
ОтветитьWalk walk. I love your videos!

ОтветитьI have been watching this video on repeat. There are so many subtlies in dog training which i love.. Working on this and maybe, just maybe, Ned and I will get past level 3 withiout him being a zamboni cleaning up the floor.

ОтветитьWhat if my dog isn't motivated by food? He doesn't ever want treats.
ОтветитьWalk walk :D
ОтветитьSo used to walking my dogs on the right because a few of mine have been therapy dogs so we walk them on our right because walls and sidewalks are ….hard to explain but it keeps them from ppl when we need them to be. So will try these steps with some tweaking.
ОтветитьI see a human that holds the leash so short and tight so the dog has no choice but to pull. Also, allowing the dog to go forward and following behind on a tight leash, teaching the dog that a tight leash is the desired thing.
Begin at the beginning, before attempting to walk anywhere. Teach the dog where you want him to be. Pay him well for being there. Show him how to get back to that spot.
I think people expect to be able to walk their dog all over, with distractions and triggers without working on foundations first. It is so important to teach what we want. You can’t correct if the dog doesn’t understand the behaviors we want.
Our Grand puppy is a Pit bull Dalmatian Cross. She will be a year old in July.
She is a beautiful, smart dog.
But I’m so glad that this video came across my feed!!! It has affirmed some things I’m doing right and pointing out what I’m doing wrong.
Thank you for the information. I’ll be putting it to good use!!!!

ОтветитьPut simply the reason dogs pull is because you let them. No clarity for where the dog needs to be.
ОтветитьI'll try it
ОтветитьI think y'all are the best dog trainers on the internet. I would love it if you would do a video about leash management and getting a dog to stay at your side for someone who uses a wheelchair or power scooter.
ОтветитьWalk walk. Need more help with the pop and closeups of leash holding
ОтветитьI walk two labs, they are awesome as long as I have treats in my hand, the moment I don’t, they pull. I’m guessing I need to work them both separately for this exercise. We go on “sniffy” walks and “walk walks”.
ОтветитьJeez, that little lipstick! This is why I only have female dogs! ❤
ОтветитьBentley’s “What gives?” face when he isn’t rewarded just for being cute 😂😂
ОтветитьWalk walk
ОтветитьI'm still with you
ОтветитьI have a dog that has high hunt instincts and squirrels are more interesting than food or pops. Any suggestions?
ОтветитьI loved: in beginning, dog 10-human 3, for their responses 😂

ОтветитьWalk walk. Any recommendations for a dog who is completely unmotivated by food?
ОтветитьMy puppy has been doing great with the beginning of our walks. But as soon as we head home, she begins pulling. Even at the park, she is so smart - she pulls when we near the car. 😅 and when cars pass she will sit and wait, which seems better than lounging at the car but makes the walk experience a struggle.
ОтветитьWalk walk, this is great info.
ОтветитьWalk walk
ОтветитьYou didn't really address the part about how to differentiate between different walks? For example, now you can sniff, to now we walk and you don't stop or sniff (as much)
ОтветитьAwesome!!
Ответитьwalk walk
ОтветитьIs this a basic leash/collar or any specific type?
ОтветитьIs it safe to do leash pops using the gentle leader?
ОтветитьI have a toy poodle, 8 inch’s tall. I can’t get down to her for a treat and walk. I’m also almost 67.
ОтветитьWalk walk. Same issue with my two year old lab. He's with me, but he just likes to be in front. When I stop 9 out od 10 times he stops and hustles back to my side. I usually change direction when he pulls. The pulling is getting old though.

" more than any treats
