The Fate of Rick Grimes' Brother in The Walking Dead Comics Explained

They’re still trying to get Viggo Mortensen to play Jeff Grimes, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they can get him to play the character.

It would be pretty unrealistic for 2 of the survivors to be Rick and his brother in completely separate locations.

This could 100% be a Tales of TWD episode. It's just that they'd have to somehow make 5 other episodes that are as good as this. I think a good way to integrate Rick's brother is having Claudia be a character in S3 of DD. Maybe in the last 2 episodes, she could mention helping someone at the start of the apocalypse (maybe something happens that reminds her of saving Jeffrey). Whether it be how we find out Jeffrey Grimes was a character, or just another easter egg for comic fans.

I think it would be really profound if they gave Daryl the same fate as Jeff at the end of Season 3, with Carol replacing Claudia.

Beyond Carol brandishing a suit of armor (which would be badass), it would tie in with Daryl's motives in the series, since he's trying (and failing) to find his "brother" Rick. It would lend a sense of tragedy to the story, since he would ultimately fail in his mission, but after learning he's alive from Carol and that there's still hope for the world, it could see Daryl finally finding some semblance of peace at the end of his journey.

Was he ever mentioned in the show? Cause don't remember if he was. I don't see the point of putting on the show if he was never mentioned on the main show.

I wouldn’t mind seeing this adaptation on an ep of TotWD. But if he’s never seen or heard about in any form, I wouldn’t be sad about it either. lol

Not Jeffrey, but Evie. In Carl's letter, he talks about his aunt Evie who is always on leave. Granted, it's never established if she's Rick or Lori's sister, and given the flashback to the house fire in The Ones Who Lived where he only mentioned a family of three, it's more than likely that Evie is Lori's sister. But they can remix the the story for it to be Evie instead of Jeffrey. And given that she's may be military, it'd make sense for her to already be there and for her to have survived for so long. Maybe she has a picture of the Grimes family and tells Daryl/Carol about how she hopes to reunite with the family one day and the story goes from there.

I always liked this comic. Rick mentions his brother a few times, saying his party is why rick met lori and how rick was apparently headstrong to help his brother against bullies, or how he felt jealous because he was the golden child and had a good job. It's the little things that mean the most.

i will have a theory rick grimes thought his brother died and never mention jeff due to the stress what rick will never no is that jeff would be ailive and jeff and Claudia in the show will save the kid who was killed by walkers in the comic (just in my theory if jeff and Claudia is added in the show)

Didn't Rick talk about having a brother in season 2? I might be misremembering but I thought he mentioned having a brother while he was talking to Shane about how he hoped the winter would slow the walkers down. He said something about a blizzard that trapped his brother in traffic for days and all he did was listen to LOTR and eat birthday cake.

I thought he mentioned his brother in the 18 miles out episode? something about him being stranded in a snow storm on the highway with nothing to eat but a birthday cake? Maybe it wasn't a brother..

I think they are going to do the alien story, but replace Jeff with Daryl since he is the surrogate brother with a big regret, carol is going to take the role of Claudia and run into Daryl in Spain. They will go into the story and I think that is where they will kill Daryl leaving carol behind to deliver his apologies.

The passport might make a cameo. I don't have much hope beyond that.

I would love to see jeffrey in the walking dead maybe he would be in daryl dixon show and when daryl finds him he introduce himself as rick grimes brother jeffrey.

There's so many twd fans missing out due to not reading the comic's. There's so many things missing in the show that's in the comics, and majority of the shows problem's don't exist in the comics

Daryl is already considered Rick's brother at this point. I like this comic but it'd make no sense and would probably make a lot of people annoyed.

Idk i mean Rick lost Carl, Shane, and Lori, and he’s not been with Judith unless he was rebuilding or fighting, i don’t think rick would’ve had a reason to talk about him because almost everyone he cared about or knew was dead. So in some ways i think Daryl being his “brother” and finding ricks real brother could be a cool parallel to the merle situation.

Dude.. They do mention Rick having a brother in the tv show. Have you not watched it? It was a flashback scene with Lori and one of her gal pals. I think it was during the Farm arc in season 2 to 3ish

I think he was mentioned in Season 2. Shane and Rick were driving and he mentioned his brother listening to the Lord of the Rings on audo-tape while snowed in.

It really shows how successful this franchise is when Daryl Dixon season 2 is barely out and there's already talks for season 3.

Episode 15 miles out Shane and Rick are talking about winter having to affect the walkers, Rick mentions his brother getting stuck on the interstate eating birthday cake and listening to Lord of the Rings. Trying to not be that guy but no one else left this comment

there’s a lot of themes with Brotherhood in WD Universe. Stephen Merchant was just added to Season 3 which we know is in Barcelona, Spaine it could be him it could not be who knows.

He definitely needs to be introduced in the live action universe they can also show up in a spin off while daryl is out looking for rick grimes someone just hears grimes and they take daryl to jeffrey grimes where he reveales himself to be ricks brother but the writers have no creative thinking so we'll probbaly just get daryl living the rest of his days in France

The annoying thing about the hardback is that they could have put some of the other uncollected short comics in it, like the Free Comic Book Day did one a few years back. Call it "The Alien and other stories". It's not a bad one shot but needed more material included for how much the hardback was.

They could remix it and make Daryl the stand in for ricks brother (since it fits thematically) daryl might have to sacrifice himself in the same way to save either carol, or one of the other characters.

Like what if the season 3 finale ends with the characters in a boat trying to get back to the US and someone is knocked overboard. Daryl jumps in to save them and ends up bitten.

I would hate to see Daryl die, but I think if they were planning on adapting the story, this sort of works
