With carlos and sinner we see a very high quality tennis and a very healthy rivalry but with these 2 it feels a battle more than a rivalry and with some high quality tennis there was also high tension and high intensity just amazing

This match was CRAZY!!! A thriller, battle and a drama. Even Joao almost checked out and was not feeling well, to then come back to win. Wow! Two of the next upcoming greats also.

So stoked that tennis skipped over Zverev and Tsitsipas without those goons winning majors.

The fact that Tien is American and Fonseca owns the crowd tells you just how much hype there is around this young star

I actually like Fonseca but I hope he lose as soon as possible, his brazilian are obnoxious, cheering for Tien double fault. Nothing personal I hope Fonseca never win anything important like master 1000 or a GS

Honestly it hasn’t been a great match, Very good level for teenagers in a atp1000, but still the both of them need quite a lot to be considered top class players. Fonseca has massive forehand and serve, but his accuracy and his backhand still very shaky, very poor footwork which will probably be his main weakness further on due also to his body shape (big upper body mass and long thin legs). Tien is just a defensive baseliner extremely accurate and tactically smart, these are weapons that come handy when playing clutch points. Unfortunately his shots are not very powerful on average on both wings nor a huge service but functional enough with its angles. Both will have to mature mentally of course and this last factor will mainly determine what kind of players they will turn into. I understand the fans’ hype (above all from the South American friends) but overall objectively we haven’t seen anything unseen so far from averaged young talents. They thought Zverev would have been the new Djokovic when he started and now at almost 30 yrs old we’re talking about the best player that has never won a GS.

Fonseca brings a breath of fresh air to the “traditional” behavior expected of a tennis player, yet always respectfully. What is any sport without rollercoaster emotions, cheering crowds and breathtaking shots? His charisma and talent are second to none. May God keep him healthy so we can all witness the development of a generational great player.

I wouldn't watch the Miami open if you paid me. A city full of immigrants who cheer on a Brazilian over an American, yet they enjoy all the benefits America offers them. I'm so done with tennis .

Tien and João are great players, still very young, which impresses me, besides their talent and what makes the difference, is the mental strength and focus of the Brazilian, a great future for both of them.

I didn't have a preference on who won but nonetheless I think it's pathetic that many in the crowd were cheering unforced errors from Tien. That's totally classless!

Fonseca reminds me so much of Roger, maybe because they look alike lol. But seriously his demeanor and forehand remind me of Roger. Also Learner is such a competitor, although he lost I always felt like he could come back in match. It was really close
