Kreider can score, especially on the PP, but he does not hit and is getting slower. As a Rangers fan, take him. We need a different kind of style of play and grittier players. Edit: Highly doubt they retain more than 1.5 million on him.

We need Tavares as 3C. We have people who can score in the bottom 6 but we don't have anyone who can consistently set them up to score

You don’t sign Bennett as a FA. You find “a” Bennett and fleece a team for him and sign him to a team friendly deal. That’s how Florida does it.
Look at how Florida acquired their players and how they got them to great contracts. I count 5+ amazing player acquisitions on Florida. This is the reason they are in the cup final 3 years in a row. They lost players to FA and just kept going. Why? Look at the job their GM did. That’s the answer. Kreider’s contract is absurd. He can’t pass. Pass on this player. That’s a ridiculous proposal. You can find players that give you 20-30 goals in the NHL. Younger cheaper contracts. The Leafs need to count every cap dollar. Signing expensive FA contracts rarely works out. A good argument Tavares was the best signing in last 10 years and that deal didn’t really work out because of the cap crunch on the team that resulted. This was the key decision that inflated all of the following contracts on the core and accomplished nothing in the playoffs because there was no scoring depth on the team. The team handed out expensive contracts and no move contracts. Look up how many no moves are on Florida. They have limited no trades but Toronto led the NHL with NMCs with 5 last year. Many teams have zero NMC. Dumb.

The Leafs have two goal sucks already in Matthews and Nylander. Kreider wouldn’t be a good fit.
The organization needs players who can play defensively and set up Matthews/Nylander.

As a Ranger fan, CK is a one trick pony. Hands of stone and is only fast in straight lines. he doesn't generate ANYTHING on his own. He is purely a product of whoever his linemates are. He may be the best puck tipper in the league, but outside of that he has regressed so much in the last couple years. Good Luck!

If the Marner is gone and I hope he is because we've seen enough of how he plays in the playoffs to predict signing him will lead to more stagnation. I'd like the Leafs to spend his salary on proven vets over people who could either be a diamond in the rough of a complete failure. We've seen enough failure as Leafs fans and if they fail to make the conference finals next season it feel like the whole thing needs to be blown up. Like trade Matthews to where ever he wants to go to get out from under his contract, same with Nylander, get picks and start the decade long rebuild or have fans riot over the same old song and dance speeches we've been getting since before colour television were invented.

Matthews is an overpaid fraud.
He’s never been able to play without either Marner or Nylander. A true top C worth 13.5mil can carry the top line. Players like Crosby, MacKinnon, McDavid, Draisatl, Toews in his prime, Malkin in his prime, etc..
