I used supertech high milage full synthetic oil high filters for 10k miles or more. I have used this oil for years I have routinely change my oil just before 10k on all of my vehicles and they all have over 150k with my DeVille 4.6 notherstar with 220k. I have thousands of dollars doing this. Each oil change cost me $50- $100 at a shop it cost me half if I do it myself.
Ответитьhey man loving the content 👌💯 I saw you grabbed some Idemitsu I appreciate it means a lot brother keep up the great work
ОтветитьI change once a year on my porsche even though it says I can go 10k miles. I've changed my oil 4 times and have only put 10k on the car since I bought it 3 years ago.
My other cars I run a napa gold or wix. And Kirkland oil. Do a change between 6k-8k miles. I used to do 5k. But even the manuals call for more than 5k with conventional oil. I got about 350k miles out of my ford escort running this combo.
I don't care what kind of oil is used.... I change mine every 3,000 miles, period. I have a 2003 buick lesabre with 114,000 miles and use valvoline h.m. synthetic blend.
ОтветитьThanks Nate!
Ответить3.5k or 6 months. 350z fsm spec.! Vq’s are very picky with oil so you gotta stay on top of it.
ОтветитьAMSOIL Signature Series only in my crusty old F-250 4X4 two valve 5.4L Triton with 250,000 miles. Use an AMSOIL Ea high efficiency oil filter or Wix XP if I don't happen to have an Ams filter. Change once a year, usually less than 10,000 miles. It takes very little oil. I live up north where it's gets cold, like -30 F. or less at times. It starts and gets oil pressure immediately every time. It is used for short trips, to plow snow, haul loads, and tow my fifth wheel and other trailers. It gets used and abused but keeps going!
AMSOIL in All our stuff, vans, kids cars, motorcycle gets AMSOIL motorcycle oil, boat gets AMSOIL 100 to 1 outboard oil & marine gear lube, snowmobile get AMSOIL injector oil, the lawn tractor gets AMSOIL small engine oil and even the dang string trimmer gets AMSOIL Saber 100 to 1 two cycle oil! Ha, great stuff!
I personally will not exceed 5K miles no matter what anyone says. An oil change with high quality synthetic oil and a premium filter costs me under $30 and I am not going to risk my engine over an oil change. I used to change it every 3K miles, but now that I have a nice oil cooler/warmer and I am not doing many short trips I change it every 4-5K miles. Short trips in cold weather and heavy loads such as towing through the mountains in extreme heat are the worst on the oil. Short trips cause fuel and condensation to build up in the oil since it doesn't heat up enough to burn those contaminants off and heavy loads can create extreme heat that breaks the oil down. For someone who is interested in extending their oil changes, keeping the oil temp in a good range is important. It needs to get hot enough to burn water and fuel off, but cool enough to not break the oil down. 180-220 is a good range for longevity. I installed a heat exchanger to heat and cool my oil with the coolant flowing through the heater hoses. The result is that the oil warms up quicker in the winter and doesn't get as hot in the summer, it stays around 185 degrees now like the coolant no matter what. I no longer get vanilla pudding on my oil cap in the winter and the oil doesn't seem to turn dark as quickly anymore. Compared to oil, coolant tends to warm up quickly and stay cool and is thermostatically controlled so its temp tends to be pretty stable. I should make a video of this heat exchanger setup, it works very well
ОтветитьIMHO I am from the old school, I don't believe in synthetic motor oils no matter what the brand is.
I also don't believe in 10,000 or more mile oil changes. I change oil every 3,000 mile using
conventional oil and changing the oil filter as well. I use Valvoline 5W30 in my Truck and 10W30
in my vehicles with no problems.
Best oil? Changed oil! 40 years heavy equipment mechanic
ОтветитьEvery 3750 miles or 6000 kms! Full synthetic with quality filter. Manufacturer recommends 6000 kms with conventional oil
ОтветитьCan you do a vid on the mysterious transfer case oil for ford trucks. It used to be mercon, then xl12, now they say to use mercon lv which was said to not be used in the past.
ОтветитьOil gathers moisture over time of being hot / cold , especially short trips ....I use regular Quaker State 5 -30w , change between 3 and 4000 miles ..2001 Silverado 300k miles....also add Marvel mystery oil to the gas ....runs like new ..!
Ответить2002 saturn sl 145k miles, I change the oil when the light turns on. Typically around 5-6K miles. I'm using mobil 1 5w or 10w-30. For a long time I used fram filters. Also tried wix and other brands.
ОтветитьI use Schaeffer's Oil and I can go almost 15,000 miles in between oil changes and my engine is clean as a whistle with almost 300,000 miles on it
Ответить08 silverado 5.3 I use mobil 1 ultimate full synthetic with a wix filter and go 4 to 5k miles
Ответить"you dont want to go down that road, it's pretty dirty" (insert double entendre here...lol)
ОтветитьI don't care what any of these test show....I change the oil on all my 5 vehicles between 2500. And 3000 miles!!!
ОтветитьI have seen 2 YT videos in the past year that claim 36K & 72K multi year intervals between changes with supposedly 3rd party oil analysis claim of additional mileage viability.
I don't believe it, PERIOD!
Are the major investors/owners of the big car companies also the major investors /owners in the big oil companies? Me thinks so!
I'm not falling for that one! New cars are one thing. Does anyone out there have a 20+ year old vehicle with 160k+ miles on it doing oil changes every 20-25k mikes?
If so, hollah! Ain't nobody gonna be hollering to that call, and for darn good reasons!
YOU MISSED THE BEST OIL ON THE MARKET LUBRIPLATE 345 5 W 30 MOTOR OIL RATED API SH RATED 6000 MILES I RUN MINE 10,000 !!!
ОтветитьI run rotella t3 change it every 35k or so
ОтветитьDepending on the style of driving, it's best to change it at max 10k km, that's 7k miles or so. Over the years the years I followed lots of tests and the conclusions was that at ruffly 5k-7k km the oil looses the additives so 10k km oil change its just fine. Long life bs shouldn't be followed if you really care about you're engine. Also the engines with chain belt transmission reliability is strictly dependable of the quality of the oil as its lubes with it, the often the oil is changed the longer chain belt will last.
ОтветитьI just changed the oil halfway through the recommended interval and the car drives a lot smoother and much less engine noise in the cabin. I drive the car mostly in "severe conditions" so that was the reason I did the oil change.
I think people should be educated more about this stuff. Read the bloody manual and look at your own driving conditions. Nowadays most people are living in urban cities and that means oil change at 1/2 interval is a must. This would ensure a long-lasting engine and smooth operation of the vehicle.
I was told by a friend's mechanic about this as he always does this for his cars at 1/2 way interval. This is also due to me having owned a Rotary before, so it becomes a religious task.
Folks at home, just change it every 3 to 5k with 3 being preferable, and you can't go wrong.
ОтветитьI need 0-20 grade for my Lexus es350 2014.Which oil should I get, dealership oil or different kind? What's ur opinion on it?
Ответитьmarhabaan 'iinaa min aleiraq 'arghab alhadith mae mudir alsharkih
ОтветитьI change my oil and filter full synthetic every 3,000 miles..
ОтветитьI always change between 5-6k miles. Im in uk at my audi a6 2009 2.0 tdi 120k changed every 5-6k 5w30, on skoda octavia 2005 tdi pd 280k every 5k 5w40 and it seems alright. What do you think? Brand oil or cheap oil? Full synthetic. Cheers 🥂
ОтветитьYour accent and speaking speed makes your ideas very easy to understand. I feel like us on the west coast sometimes speak too fast and scattered to present complex ideas.
ОтветитьI've always done 5k on all my vehicles. Mostly service vans. But I think I'm going to stretch it to 10 on my family car. We just use it for long trips. I just checked it at 5k. It looks pretty clean and still full. Thanks for the video Nate.
ОтветитьIf you need oil company liability, know they're slicker than the oil itself.
ОтветитьI did not change oil in my 2016 Camry for 2 years. I am in Canada and I am not aggressive driver. The oil is 0W20, I assume it is synthetic because it was a dealer who changed it 2 years ago. Due to COVID I was scared to go to mechanic. In two years I travelled only 1,200 km or 800 miles, while the Manual tells to change the oil at 10,000 miles or 12 months whatever comes first. My total mileage is also low - only 3,700 miles as I do not drive much. Please, advise should I worry that I did not change the oil for 24 months, while having very low mileage in the last 2 years?
ОтветитьNo matter what oil change interval you have chosen, it is always wise to check the oil level at every fuel stop.
ОтветитьMy challemger I change once a year since I drive it only a couple times a month. My work truck every 6 month and my family every 7k to 10k. I only use synthetic and I change it myself so I know the oil that I'm using.
ОтветитьI’m not sure what I just heard. I’m pretty certain I didn’t get any information though.
Ответитьi have an 05 ls430 and im pushing at 7500 with amsoil 5w30 and so far so good! cant say it "uses" oil muchless it has a leaky valve cover but even then im still at the half mark and its nearly been 7200 miles now so im happy.
ОтветитьChanging you engine oil frequently is a cheap insurance policy.
ОтветитьIf you want to kill your direct injected engine, follow the owners manual, at least here in Norway it says 18.000 miles.
Ответитьwe all are in "severe conditions" so
ОтветитьI'm old school and change my oil every 3000 miles and filter. Years ago I used to use Quaker State QSX 10w - 30. It was a good oil and did a really nice job of cleaning out the engine of sludge in a used car with 60,000 miles on it.
Back before the new synthetics I took two vehicles over 200,000 miles on conventional oils ( Pennzoil other car ). No oil related break downs.
My last car took 5w-20 and I used Valvoline Daily Protection (conventional oil) 15 years later and 150,000 miles it wasn't burning any oil.
The problem with extended oil changes is fuel delusion of the oil. I've even had someone tell me that their car doesn't start burning oil until after 4000 miles and at that point they drop about a half of a quart before their next oil change.
I would recommend still changing your oil every 3000 miles today. One can use Full Synthetic Quaker State or QS Ultimate Protection and or Pennzoil Full Synthetic oil do to their low cost of under $23 for a 5 quart jug at Walmart.
I will be choosing my next oil soon for my new car that takes 0w - 20 based on local availability. If I should find that QS Ultimate Protection is as available as Pennzoil locally (not just at Walmart) I will be switching back to Quaker State. And doing 3000 mile oil changes!
20,000 mile oil change I buy the best (in my experience)Shaffers 5w20 full synthetic oil,and I’m not planning on going but 5000 miles still before I drain and refill!
ОтветитьIf I did 3000 mile oil changes it would be about monthly it would feel.i do 5000 comes out to about every other month /every 2 months.
ОтветитьI’m getting 5 gallon buckets of shaffers 5w20 full synthetic supreme 9000 for around 170 that’s the way I’m going since that usally last me a full year depending on the performance of the oil out of 5 gallons I change myself every 5000..old man at work tells me I’m wasteing money changing full synthetic Exspecially shaffers at 5000 miles .for me it makes me feel better since I have started driving cars none have had any oil or fuel failures!
Ответить20,000mi - 25,000mi are the normal oil/filter intervals for BIG RIGS...that can be up to 10-12 gallons of motor oil!
Too many people fall for the "HIGH MILAGE" marketing hyp.
Car manufacturers suggest shorter intervals because they’re basing it on factory fill oil and they will err on the side of caution when it comes to recommendations that may put them on the hook for warranty repairs. I’ve been doing an annual oil change on a 1 ton cargo van, that is fully loaded, for the last 6 years with no problems. Van has north of 100K on it and still running strong
ОтветитьI change my oil everyday...my engine runs like new...
ОтветитьMobile 1 every 5500-7000 miles.Unles you drag race or put your motor under high stress, that'll be plenty good.
ОтветитьAmsoil every 25,000 miles! (Filter change every 15,000) It’s all you need! Every other oil change it every 3,000
ОтветитьHow many miles between oil changes in your ride?
