Well said. Prof, I am constantly impressed by how you are able to turn news into prose at such an alarming pace. Well done, sir. But how do you do it?

About time. Our strength in recent decades has been in Special Forces .. and I'd say Ukraine has been deploying the tactics they received training in Poland with SF plus the leader training they've been getting in England by constant rotation of fighting groups

What surprises me as someone who has had to sign the official secrets act is how the government and media are making this so public

Its like a big announcement to Russia saying that we are very weak and not well defended and need to rearm ourselves , which presents Russia with an excellent opportunity to attack us before we get the chance to manufacture all of these armaments

I thought they would keep this a lot more secret than they are , as this shows our vulnerabilities

And just who is it that is pushing for war? NATO, the UkroNAZIS, Britain particularly, the EU.
Starmer, the war mongering deviant, is leading Britain, once again, into catastrophe by meddling in Eastern European border disputes. Westminster/Whitehall once again having Britain "punch above its weight". You would think that the disasters of WW1 and WW2 would have taught Britain a little restraint.
Well this time you chickenhawks can forget about the USA rescuing your sorry backsides.

I remember, over my life time, that when ever a Labour Government proposed cuts to defence the Conservatives and Tory Press, screamed "betrayal". Tories could cut, with some protest from Labour but nothing from the press. When the last government cut there was silence all around yet the signs of threats from China and Putin were there.

UK has paid a fortune to provide the US with their top-secret base in Diego Garcia for the next century. We give the US free run over Akrotiri, our sovereign base in Cyprus. We provide extensive military support to Israel, e.g. training, supplies, reconnaissance, air defence and allow the IDF to hold UK passports. Our military priorities are not to be trusted so please no more money.

I think the US and the UK need to calm down. Military might can certainly help, but many conflicts can be prevented when leaders behave like adults.

You’ve been talking about war with China, countering the China threat, Balkanising China, blockading China to starve it, using Taiwan, and all sorts of psychopathic and Israel-like rhetoric since 2018. How would you prepare if you were China?

The question is “Do we have the willpower”. The answer has been no, not close. This is yet another wistful speech full of rhetoric that, conveniently, can’t be scrutinized without a Time Machine. it’s proof that the British prefer being lied to inorder to “feel” as if decades of hollowing out were just a distant memory and that the future is secured militarily. In only a matter of months the 3.0% goal post has moved. Ironically, this speech coincided with the Vilnius Summit(conveniently unreported) where the Eastern Europeans and nordics called for 5% with a 3.5% on pure military support. Denmark lamented the truth, that this talk of spending is too late. Once the sugar high of this speech wears off, the cold reality that British rhetoric never matches reality will set in for those who chose to day dream.

After years of governmental obduracy over military spending, it seems to be cack your pants time in realising our military is inadequate to meet modern threats. Russian loudmouths have repeatedly threatened nuclear attacks on this country, but few take it seriously, much the same when Putin said he wouldn't invade Ukraine. The unpredictability of insane minds has become so much more of a potential threat, that has raise awareness of not so much of what we have but more of what we don't have. As for the people of this country, we are lumbered by a crass incompetent government that stupidly chooses to ignore an intrinsic part of a country, it's people, and more importantly, their welfare. The arrogant ''we know best'' attitude of blustering ahead with knee jerk reactions will easily have them robbing Peter to pay Paul, in a rush to put right past negligence, not caring of the damage they do, that would be equal to any foreign attack, in harming the people they are supposed to protect.

I would like to be civil, but these war mongering f..ks picked a fight with Russia, not in anyway on behalf of one true British citizen. Are leaders in the west thought sanctions and military aid would be a answer but instead antagonised. This country has a evil in that only the British people can change. A war is coming, but it won't be Russia it will be the British fighting against are so called leaders, the most dangerous people on earth right now.

You guys should do what France did…build your own SLBM…it will free you from dependence on the U.S. The French M51.3 is domestically built and is newer than the Trident II. The Trident II is a fantastic missile but it’s getting a bit long in the tooth. Even with the LE program.
