Benefits of Joining the National Guard

I'm so nervous to join because I don't know what my family will think and I don't know if it's something that I actually want to do. I've always wanted to join since I was 17 and in high school and a few guards game in to educate my class. I wasn't able to join then, but I may be able to join now because I'm studying for my GED and should graduate in September. I've spoken with someone who helped connect me with a recruiter. So, I'll be emailing the recruiter soon to speak with and see if it's something I truly want to commit to.

is it true if we are at a full time company ? And we choose to enlist with the national guard ? Do we still get paid from the job we "left" and still have the ability to go back to that job without any issues after the 3 months of basic training ?
