I like it, but... Ethical would be to release upgrade modules rather than entire new models and I hope they do that and they eventually make a phone where the modular design and ethics doesn't appear to result in a poor aesthetic. I like to see all phones do this, so much like a pc case you can replace/upgrade as you go.

This company needs to up their game. Just like Tesla made the electric car cool, Fairphone needs to make their brand competitive.

Oh come on. This is such a short-sighted and arrogant view to take. It's THE ONLY ETHICAL PHONE ON THE MARKET. This phone is not trying to be a sleek, fast flagship which the vast majority of people don't really need - so why are you trying to compare them? Fairphone hasn't tried to do that and failed, they set out to do something different from the beginning.

Actually caring about the people who made the phone and the manufacturing process's impact on the environment......is a bad thing?? And you'd only buy it for "bragging rights"?

They are literally the only ones daring to do better, and you want to take pot shots at them for it? Not cool at all.

Unbox Therapy is becoming just uselses rants these days. Instead of actually getting the Fair Phone and properly reviewing it... he just assumes it's not worth the money and rants the whole time about the damn splugger. He thinks he's being a showman... but he just looks like an idiot not even recognising why being Fair is important... and if his precious sparkly phones were ethically produced (and didn't rely on cheap child labour for example) they would probably cost 2-3x as much as they currently do.

This is the best solution after buying second hand. Also, it's less unethical that they pay extra salaries to the factories so that workers get a liveable wage in china, rather than the minimum. They are doing a lot beyond just recycling plastic. They also make sure that the extraction sites are made in a way that won't ruin waters or make excessive deforestation, and safe conditions and salaries there too. It's not too expensive for what it is, that's the fair price, where all workers will be fed for the job.

I'm curious how Fairphone users think of 5G? Are they more aware of the dangers? or are they eager to have it? I'd think the former is more likely, but who knows. Curious to know!

I don’t think Lew has grounds to critique fairphone, he makes large sums of money reviewing phones and accessories he gets for free made in sweatshops.

When you can afford the largely more humane option but decide to go for the specs instead, it just doesn’t sit right.

For people caring about the environment and not liking the look of the Fairphone: Buy a used phone. Then there is no new extraction or labour. The obsession with always getting the newest gadget is literally marketing brainwashing. And they did a good job at it!

I just bought a Fairphone 3+. For £440 I could have got a phone that would have danced rings round it in every way but for me the way phones nowadays are pretty much unrepairable disposable items despite having precious metals in them like cobalt, made by underpaid modern slaves in horrendous working conditions is unacceptable. The smart phone is possibly the best example of wasteful capitalism. I'm not as into phones as most others. The 48mp camera for example does me fine. There's much better ones out there for the same price sure but if I was really into photography you know what I would do? I would buy a proper camera. Obviously for these reasons I'm letting the FP3+ off the hook for it's low spec but the only feature that gets to me is the mediocre 3300mah battery. You can buy a Motorolla G9 Power for £170 and it ha a 6000mah battery. It's awesome that you can take a fairphone apart for repairs and upgrades but I do want Fairphone to come with upgrades soon especially a better battery. Most people say the Fairphone is overpriced and under specedand and that's the sacrifice Fairphone are asking of their customers but maybe that's not the correct point of veiw. Maybe you can say all the other phones are underpriced and if we really started to care about making responsible purchases also irrelevant.

Its ethical because its environmentally friendly. Its modularity makes it recycable in such a way that you do not need to bring it to a mechanic or an electronic recycling center. You can just buy parts and put them on the phone itself. Fairphone challenges the trend of being dependent to phone manufacturers for fixing your phones and the custom of changing your phone yearly.

wtf is wrong with you?
almost every modern smartphone today has this stupid edge display which is just a predetermined breaking point, is annoying to operate with an looks ugly.
You also have a better grip on the fairphone. The design is way better than most of the other stuff. But the mass has taste and no idea what good, reliable design looks like anymore.

I found this searching for reviews on this phone, but this guy's just dogging on it without ever having touched the phone. Kinda get the impression he's somehow offended by the Fairtrade aim of the phone. Perhaps if it were called the "Totalcuntphone" and the advert said "We whipped our slave workers extra-hard to make this phone," perhaps he would have been more positive about the phone??

Fair Phone 4 has top of the line specs and a removable battery. I just wish it was smaller (so it can fit in your hand) and cheaper. Your second best bet is the LG G5 2016 flagship. You can pick it for $80 and upgrade the battery to a 5700mah battery for $15. Hope this helps.

Ответить
@chriswells4618
@chriswells4618 - 04.11.2021 12:54

I do agree with Lew I don't believe long term this product is going to last unless they find a way to make it cheaper. The only thing you really need to change is the battery once every 2 years. You can already buy 2016 flagships that have this feature. I also believe technology has got to a point where its not even worth upgrading your phone anymore unless your a serious gamer. SD855 > is when phones became overpowered for daily use. I hope this helps.
