The International Congress on Planted Forests (ICPF) is a global forum focused on planted forests held under the auspices of the IUFRO task force on resilient planted forests serving society and the bioeconomy. Its 5th edition is organized by IEFC, IUFRO, the TreeDivNet network, and CIFOR-ICRAF, with the technical cooperation of FAO, and takes place for the first time in Africa. The high-level closing ceremony will be broadcasted live and represent the unique opportunity to share key findings and perspectives from the in-person event to a broader community.
Following welcoming remarks, a high-level Kenyan government representative will give a speech on the challenges and opportunities of planted forests in Kenya. Subsequently, the outcomes of the congress will be discussed during a panel session. Session chairs and representatives from side events will present brief interventions. This will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience. The IUFRO Task Force "Resilient planted forests serving society & bioeconomy," will deliver a presentation on its recent work and upcoming activities. The event will conclude with the launch of the new edition of FAO's flagship journal Unasylva which focuses on planted forests. Participants will be able to share their questions with the panelists through the chat function of the event.
