Quick question. What do you recommend using to kill off grass. Will the glyfocate work for that as well

Jeff excellent and informative video. I will be trying this technique in south Louisiana hardwoods this year. Have some small 3/4 & 1 acre areas within the woods that is hard to navigate with heavy equipment. The 2-4-D and Glyphosate ratio, is that for a 15 gallon water tank or larger that you show in the video? Thanks!

I’ll be doing this on a 60 Acre area we have in nw mn. High deer density. Has some good locations that have already open grassy areas within the aspen woods that I would like to food plot. I’m not comfortable burning. Would you skip the buckwheat and just use the grass as a thatch bed? Or would I need to mow the grass down and kill it with gly in order to plant buckwheat. I’m concerned about soil content with the buckwheat seed. Thanks. I’ll look for your response. And thanks for the video. Side note. I have a pull behind mower and an Atv sprayer and hand spreader.

Idk if you will see this but I was wondering if you can use “ killz all” 43% glyphosate..on the buckwheat and still seed before you crush. I have small plots and can only find glyphosate in really expensive sizes.. thanks jeff.. so basically well that product give problems with The sweet Brasca blend seed germination

Heading to my farm/land tomorrow 8/1/22 that is 1 1/2 hrs west of Chicago... im so psyched. My plan: on 6/20/22 i planted buckwheat. At planting time, my ph level was 7.5....buckwheat now Its 4 ft high on my cams...

My plan: .spreading 1/2 my plots tomorrow w brassica mix>>> /then crushing cultipacking w my atv/packer maxx >> then i have a FIMCO atv 25 gallon sprayer.... 2 quarts per acre glyphosate. So far so good.

In 3 weeks im repeating this proccess w rye, oats, soy beans mixture and other grasses on the other 1/2 of my buckwheat cover crop 🤞

I love your way of putting chemicals above tillage because it is true that chemicals are not good for the environment. However, what you're using instead of chemicals is not good for your crops. It's kind of two-faced but I like your explanation . It's all about what you want to protect. Your crops or the environment most times you'd be better off protecting your crops as that benefits you and the environment doesn't quite as much if you know what I'm saying

Been watchign a lot of videos on this and have a big question. Im in west texas and doing a few small food plots. Area is surrounded by cotton. Our summers are Hot and dry/ 20-25 inches of annual rainfall. In summer, there isnt as much browse for deer because of the hot dry conditions. Could I do this same rotation, but also combine Lab Lab to the buckwheat to provide good summer food options and still roll it down/spray it after throwing the fall seed into it?

A term used to discribe a "no-till" plot that has had any empliment ran over it is " minum-till". If you just use a drill and nothing else, it's a "minum-till" plot. Note from an old farmer.
