Downtown Clearwater was always like that before the Scientologist bought all the area it was full of homeless people and drugs. Clearwater is beautiful in both summer and winter and I’m not talking about the weather.

Yes, very creepy downtown ... I think Scientology owns 209 PROPERTIES! They bus around the little scientology wanna-be's from their "training" buildings back to dorms, they wear uniforms, etc. I saw the mayor on Bay New 9 a couple weeks ago basically admitting there's nothing they can do about it except to ask scientology to liven up downtown and you see the result - NOTHING.

I actually live here and we Love this time of year because it IS so quiet. All the tourists are gone! Woop! All the attractions are open year round and the restaurants as well. Super easy to get around and truly enjoy the city when all the tourists are gone.

You all know ZERO about Clearwater and all you had to do was Google search and you would know why.

I was born here and been here 40 years and there's a million people in our county.. Clearwater is not empty

Most of downtown clearwater is owned by the church of scientology, there are more then one walgreens , I don't know when the changed it but for a while it was illegal to ride bikes on the sidewalk . If y'all don't like clearwater go back to Sarasota. This is the time of year that the locals, Tampa , Clearwater & St Pete can injoy the beaches .

Bikes in the road absolutely annoys the crap out of me and in my state its legal to do it. Slow, no licence plate, meets no road requirements but somehow legal. In the way, dangerous, sometimes hard to see, annoying! Get the F off the road. When i ride my bicycle I mostly use the sidewalk unless someones walking right there. I might go on the road for a second and get off. Makes me so irritated when bicycles take up the road. Im in Oregon and well, Oregonians will all disagree with me which just further irritates the crap out of me.

Jose, DT Clearwater has been abandoned for many years because Scientologists took over. The people you thought were restaurant employees are the from the Church of Scientology which you drove right by without even mentioning it. Do your homework next time.

That area has always been depressed and empty. Even in the 70s and 80s. They came in and start buying some of the properties. They are restoring them and housing for their members. Overall its a good thing. Its on the East side of the overpass that goes to the West beaches.

Your driving in a residential area ofcourse it’s gonna be quite, I live in Clearwater Fl , it’s not supposed to be a city all in one, downtown is the city area & uphill its suburban residential & city like roads such as main roads like gulf to bay, west bay , east bay & Missouri rd where your gonna see lots of poeple , shopping…Clearwater is sitting inbetween beaches the residents usuall use the beaches during The summer the tourist only come for memorial & 4th July weekend during the summer. But expect Clearwater full threw out the 8 moths out of the year..

You slowed down in middle of 3 lanes almost stopped at a green light and casue a accident. The white lines are solid when you get close to light means DO NOT CROSS. Driving around pissing people off driving like shit and recording it.

Try driving near Myrtle beach! Just as bad! The red lights

Im born and raised in Clearwater. Clearwater has changed so much. Nothing is the same. Rhe beach used to be a fun lively place. But not anymore. Does Scientologist screwed up our city

I am a Floridian and trust me, there are some bizarre towns here. I lived in Sarasota for awhile but it's become insane crowded. Longboat Key is NOTHING like it used to be. There were even some ok surfing spots along there that are no longer there. Lived in Cocoa Beach and it was just a nice town, summer and winter. We lived just north of Orlando for many years but now it's way too crowded and prices of everything, like taxes and utilities are now out of reach, never mind the noise. Now I live in another county where it's more affordable and still somewhat rural. I don't miss the horrific crowds, but even this place is getting full. The Villages threatens to eat up every bit of spare land, however, and that is not good. The summer USED to be vacation season for Florida residents but no more. Floridians don't get a break on anything anymore and some are leaving. The ones coming in aren't particularly welcome.
