Moved from California to Florida. We love it. It’s expensive everywhere. Not as much as California. Feel sorry for Californians, I don’t know they can afford it. People are stuck in that state, can’t afford to move out. Things are not going to get any better.

Since it is a people that gives insurance companies money to support their bad habits. It’s time we get new insurance companies to put the other ones out of business. So insurance companies CEOs makes millions off of us. As we struggle to take care of our families.

All the boomers buying in the peak they should have rented until they were positive they were in on FL for sure. If the bought at the peak in 2022 they are underwater in 2025.

Many seniors can't afford to live in Florida anymore.

If people leave, it will be like the San Francisco area, where home and condo prices are dropping. A lower cost of living will be the plus of this.

Moving from Long Island to Florida has been the best decision my husband and I have made. In Long Island our utilities bills were higher and lets not forget that heating oil. Winters were hard on my husband, cleaning up the snow from property the cars was hard. Here in Florida we don’t pay property taxes because he’s a disabled veteran and the VA Hospital is great here. My husband and I are retired and we don’t regard the change. So there are people who come here from the Northern States and are very happy to be Here.

I’m leaving Florida summer 2025. I’ve lived here since 2001 but I’m retired now and refuse to live my golden years here for so many reasons. I’m in Orlando and it’s time to go.☹️

If you move to Florida, expect home insurance to cost $100,000 per year, 2 to 3 times what your mortgage costs you. So plan to buy a house WITHOUT insurance, just do any repairs on your own, out of your own pocket. The reason entire hospital floors are closed is because the hospitals in Florida pay dog crap for wages and they can’t get staff.

Was railroaded down here a few years ago to central florida. I used to love to come here to visit . But living here is not for me at all whatsoever. But it has shown me how much I miss virginia

PLEASE! Do a deep dive on "The Villages". We did a trolley tour the other day and it does seem like "Disney for Adults", however, I'm sure there are things people don't know about buying in there, like the bonds, where taxes are better, property insurance, etc.

I love floida's East coast. It is hotter in the summer than it was when I moved here 10 years ago, but the winters are nicer with the higher temps. N of Jupiter, traffic is less congested. Our homes have retained their value better than west coast. Healthcare is AWFUL. Bring your good health.

My wife and I started Coming to Destin in 2015 to vacation after Thanksgiving. It was dead around here. Off season and we loved it.
We immediately started looking to buy a condo on a Low Ball Cash Offer. Real Estate Agents would not play ball. Ok so we found a condo owner that would rent for cash. Working out great. We now come for 70 days in Snow Bird Season. Now we are pushing 70 and our rental situation is working perfectly. Also my wife’s family breeds like Rabbits and loves to mooch any thing they can from anyone they can. The Hand Writing is on the Wall. If we bought we would be the Free Vacation Destination. We see that up north at our lake home. Bring the whole gang and come empty handed. Now with Insurance Problems, Increase HOA Fees, Potential Hurricane. Nope we are so happy to rent and drive away. See you next year. And if life changes in anyway we don’t have the concern of our condo in Destin. Besides 2 Homes are enough to take care of. I don’t need a 3rd.

What we have noticed immediately is the grocery prices here vs home. Even at Walmart prices are at least 15% more. The traffic and the people have increased. Back home people ask are you still thinking of moving to Florida now that you are retired. I say hell no, too many damn people.
We are only going for Snow Bird Season. 6 weeks after we get back we open lake house. We are content with just Being Snow Birds. We love Wisconsin too much to leave. Florida is a great place to visit but I would not like to live here permanently.

Here On Amelia Island Florida, homes sell within 22 days and sell for 1% above asking. It's prety easy folks to check thinks out on zillow. No bargins here... My cousin is waiting for the Florida prices to come down for 15 years.. he's now 75 and still waiting.

At one time I wanted to Retire in Florida. Not anymore! Insurance rates, HOA Fees are rising to Unaffordable costs! Oh DeSatan too is another reason!

Live on the inner east coast = health care is stable. Boomer retirements are the problem! Also most younger families don't live in the hometown!

So much truth in your statements. We just moved to The Villages but in my mind I'm already formulating a plan for our eventual return to Vermont to be with family in our sunset years. Also, the medical system here in central Florida has been a nightmare shit show of not being able to find specialists or when we do they don't accept our health insurance. There's so much to love here but some real obstacles as well.
