My rationalization about missing the shot. firstly shotguns at close range don't have as much spread as people think so its not a point in general direction and 100% hit rate. shot gun had no stock, so hes basically point firing. Secondly the t.v drew his attention and he may have subconsciously aimed at the t.v. This happens, for example when you are driving and notice something outside and you start to drift towards it. or someone is talking to you, but behind them something is going on and they seem to blur out as your attention is re-directed. Personally it didn't bother me and I found it funny but others may be scratching there heads in disbelief.
