Is it safe to buy a 3rd party charger as long as it features charging technology compatible with the devices mentioned in this video?

I've had Super VOOC Charging on my Oppo P5 for a few months and it charges Concerningly Fast! My Phone has got 2 LiPo Cells inside, which must help with longevity?

I have an Oppo Find X5 and it has 80W Supervooc charging which is awesome but what sucks is that it can only go this fast with Vooc chargers so Oppo, Oneplus or Realme chargers are needed.

I tried using a 120W Xiaomi charger that can output the same 11V 6A that a 65W Supervooc charger does yet it was still charging much slower.

wait so if my charger can deliver the wattage required to fast charge my phone but it doesn't have the required charging standard, then my phone won't fast charge?
That's ridiculous!

Quick Charge is by far the best universally because it was designed to be cable- and connection-independent.

It is the only one that can work with ANY cable (you don't need a special certified cable(because all cables support 3A and QC3 was designed to never use more than 3A, instead they increased the voltage)) and it can work with USB-A (which is literally the oldest and most common port), Micro USB (if you still use it) and USB-C for newer devices whereas all the other standards only work with USB-C and require specialised cables (that support 5A).

Jeez, they already have USB PD, I swear some are just making their own to sell their own special chargers. Whether that's choosing not to include them, thanks Apple(yes it's e-waste, but we know it's really about money), or needing to buy an extra one for the office, travel, etc. If there was one standard that performed the best on all phones you could just buy an overpowered charger for that standard and be set for all future phones to charge as fast as possible. I guess at least USB PD works and charges fast enough, just dumb that companies like anker need to jump through hoops to support them all while possibly not being allowed to officially label themselves as USB PD or the like because of how the standards work.

Xiaomis HyperCharge at 120W on my Phone may be proprietary unfortunately - but it is insanely quick.
Even more insane that their new Redmi Note 12 Pro+ Discovery Edition offers mind bending 210W fast charging - almost maxing out, what USB-C currently has to offer (which are 240W).

Thats kinda the thing about quick charging: as long as your battery lasts to the end of the day and you can charge it while you sleep, you don't really need quick charging.

I remember a technology that used to be able to take my phone from 0% to 100% in 10s.
1. Turn off phone
2. Remove dead battery
3. Insert charged battery
4. Turn on phone

Unfortunately, modern phones are designed to be disposable and have removed that feature

i legit have this charging standard hurdle between two samsung devices. my note9 happily fast charges on just about any fast charger i have yet my tab s4 is VERY picky about what fast charge to use. i know this by literally checking the voltage and power being drawn and my tablet would regularly not even start any fast charging and just sip down some power at 5v 2a despite the battery being at 30%. literally my usb pd chargers are the only ones that actually get fast charging out of my tablet.

in our country (not China) we enjoy 65 Watt Super Vooc.. charge your phone from 20% to 100% in less than 40 minutes.

It's totally safe, fast and cooler than my other phone which supports my QC&PD.

My battery capacity 5000mAh

Linus is wrong on this situation there are 2 types of chargers that are mainly used today are either PDO or PPS charging PDO is power data object and PPS is programmable power supply with Samsung devices that I've tested if the charger does not do PPS charging it will not fast charge

Samsung now also uses PD, at least in the S22ultra with the exynos Chipsets. Mache they still use Quick charge with the Qualcomm CPUs.

Samsung's "super fast charging" is just PPS, which is a part of the USB-PD standard.

My Samsung Galaxy X Cover Pro didn't come with a charger (because that's the new 'environmentally friendly' thing for companies to do)... and with a USB-PD compatible charger and cord... it still sometimes yells at me ... okay okay it doesn't actually yell but it does give that annoying 'please use the original charger' message so... According to their tech support says it should fast charge no problem with USB-PD but it still sometimes complains (sometimes, as in usually not)...

My old ass phone doesn't support any fast charging standard, and the battery is worn out considerably, my solution: just carry around a massive backup battery that does have fast charging, I move around my house a lot and I don't like being tethered to a wall!

The biggest problem is that all these standards can mix as well.. So if you're looking for the right power delivery/QC 4.0 etc for the charging side AND you want reasonably fast data transfer from USB 3.1 or whatever, it's a giant mess.. Plenty of cables are only good for charging OR data transfer, not both. It's surprisingly hard to find the right ones that can do it all.. and let you just replace all of your cables with them.

Everyone should just use USB-PD but manufacturers want you to buy their propritary chargers so of course a lot of devices don't support USB-PD and require propitary garbage instead USB-PD can do up to 100W that's enough to get the same speed as most of the best chargers and the with the new 240W standart no propitary standards are actually needed but no phone manufactures will keep using their own propritary crap if you want any of these real fast speeds.
