China could invade at any time.
ОтветитьPretty cool to see you cover Taiwan. Not necessarily under-rated, but more like under the radar. I do like places I like staying under the radar though 😄
ОтветитьAnother big perk is the exceptionally high value healthcare. It's regularly rated as the best system or one of the best systems, in the world.
ОтветитьTaiwan tax residents can deduct foreign income, upto six million NTD with 0% tax.
Ответить😇🥰
ОтветитьTapei 101 was also a prominent attraction in my childhood Sim City 3000 gaming life
ОтветитьTaiwan is great. Many people that visit, never leave. Incredibly kind and welcome people, and great value.
Everything works quite well, it's safe, convenient, fun and reasonably priced. I'll take the ugly buildings 😂 They're mostly remodeled and nice on the inside anyway! Besides there's great nature very closeby that makes up for it. The extensive riverside trails are wonderful. 😊
They talk about it because if they said anything good about Taiwan, the CCp of China will ruin all their business deals in China. Pathetic people
ОтветитьUS recognizes Taiwan as part of China, but plans to fight a war over Taiwan independence.
ОтветитьCan you make a concrete video, which city YOU would choose in your particalar situation if you would have 3 small kids. I know different people have different situations etc. But I would really like to hear your personal position and the arguments for it.
ОтветитьTsmc is getting hammered soon. They don’t dictate who gets the machines to produce these chips. The Dutch and Americans do.
The incoming invasion of China isn’t a threat. It is very real and going to happen.
If you disagree. Go google why the us is reopening bases in pacific that haven’t been open since ww2. The wars coming and it’s not far off.
We aren’t even mentioning that the island population is dying off rapidly. Projected to be less than 10m by 2060/70. And just because its economy looks prosperous doesn’t mean its society or people are. Unfortunately it’s stuck in the same issue mainland China is in. Middle income trap but the population or country never got pass the point where countries like Aus / us reach. It’s a dead end place to invest in.
Thanks for covering Taiwan! Although I would love to see a more deep video with some footage, at least letting people know about this country is a good thing.
I personally have a Gold Card there through remote work, its quite easy to get and allows to stay up to 3 years with path to permanent residence afterwards. I personally use it mostly as a travel visa (as my citizenship doesn't allow visa-free access to Taiwan), but considering it as a backup plan just in case.
But I would never aim for citizenship. Chinese proficiency exam + renounce other citizenships + mandatory military service is not the best combo. They allow dual citizenship for taiwanese born and extraordinary talented, so there are cases when its worth considering, but most people are likely not falling into these categories
Taipei real-estate is quite expensive (I remember it was called top-2 after Hong Kong in Asia). When I stayed in Taipei last time, it was a 2-bedroom apartment (rather 1bd size by western standards), in a modern building in Ximen area. The owner said the market price for it was around 20mil TWD (~700'000 USD)
ОтветитьI lived in Taiwan with wife and kids in 2018 and 2019. Nice country and nice people.
- My kids went to Chinese school in USA so had no issue going to local school.
- Problem is half of the government didn't want us (foreigners) there and half invited us. It was hell. I wasted too much time on visas, government BS, etc. So I gave up and moved family back to USA and was going to commute each month to Taiwan for my business. But Covid hit and that was it - American's were not allowed to go to Taiwan.
When I first went there I met an Expat doing business there and he told me to not get a visa. He said just come and do business but do not become a resident. He said the paperwork and government BS will kill you. Well, he was correct.
While the day to day cost of living is of great value (relative to incomes), real estate in Taiwan is very expensive due to very high population density, particularly on the western seaboard.
ОтветитьTaiwan is a hidden gem. I lived there for over 2 years and no, its not part of China!
ОтветитьIt looks like a computer game
ОтветитьGlad you are feeling better Michael. Looking forward to more insightful videos from you. Does Taiwan have a CBI or expedited path to citizenship?
ОтветитьYou really glossed over the threat from the mainland.
ОтветитьAs a Taiwanese-Canadian with a Taiwanese passport, I always think Taiwan would be an option for my retirement from BC Hydro. What are the capital gains and income taxes like in Taiwan? Can I be a non-resident in Canada while still receiving Canadian company pension while spending my retirement in Taiwan? Glad you made it to Taiwan. Hope you find great care for your health and enjoy your time there. When I left Taiwan in the '80s for Vancouver, Taiwan was a 3rd world country without a subway system and low per capital GDP, while Vancouver was far more advance. Now in 2025, Taiwan has never stopped progressing and improving while Vancouver has stagnated with high taxes, government funded open drug use, over crowded public transit and some of the longest average commute in North America.. It's so sad to see what Vancouver and Canada has become, especially in comparison to my birth country of Taiwan that never stopped improving.
ОтветитьThis isn’t even a normal country, it has extremely high geopolitical risks.
ОтветитьCan you please put a link to the back doctor, I've had a terrible experience with doctors in the US after several surgeries without success.
