CATAN Geographies: Germany Review with Sam Healey

Hi Sam, thank you for another great review. Where in Germany did you live and for how long ? :) i live in Hamburg as an expat, its a great country!

How do you feel about Catan Card Game/Rivals for Catan, Sam? I enjoyed that a bit more than the Catan that I played at my FLGS. It's 2 players only though, but with the non randomized layout and all of the initial land having 1 of the sides of a d6 (one production die and one event die is all you have), no player will go turns getting nothing. But yeah, I'll suggest that for anyone that's looking for a mix up of the Catan/Machi Koro formula but don't mind only playing 2 players at once

I have listened to and watched Sam's glowing reviews for CATAN Geographies: Germany before, and I KNOW that this is a game that I would love. Every time he mentioned and described the game during his Top Ten lists I knew that this was my kind of board game. I'm a history teacher and love the topic and theme.

HOWEVER, I cannot for the life of me find this game in print. The only site that has it available is Amazon, but it currently has it priced at $100. Does anyone else know where you can pick a copy of this game up?

@Nicolai Bendtsen: My Dad was stationed at Bitburg AFB back before the USAF closed it down and moved out. We lived in a little town called Kyllburg for about 2 years, and in base housing for the other two years we were there. I loved living in Germany...a truly beautiful country!

So the board doesn't change, and you randomise starting locations. How is this better? I agree settlers is now quite a dated game but seriously this is worse not better.

I have to say: You are honestly my least favorite person on the "top 10 list" videos, by a great distance. Zee and Tom are a lot more light hearted and a lot less stuborn. In those series, you are more elitist and I don't really like it when people look down on others.

However, I prefer your reviews over any other. The way you explain things, very clear and with a passion. And just the pure joy in your eyes when presenting a game gives it something special. Very good job, keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to seeing more from you.

Great game.... found one on EBay for £100, but it's worth it. Cheapest I'd seen it for ages.

Hi Sam, we have a dispute over adjacent towns on this map. As i understand it we cant place towns next to each other eventhough there are slots for them on the ends of same road, correct?

WOWzers i just bought a copy of this on BGG for 25$!!!!! ebay and amazon prices range triple that price and higher

Are the cards and instructions written in German?

Hi, I just purchased this game. I was wondering can you play with two players and if you can’t I’m not sure I understand why you can’t. Could you explain that please?
