Webflow claims it’s great for everything. Well, is it? What I know for sure is that Webflow is a bit more advanced and complex than the website builders I usually cover. But don’t worry - this Webflow review will serve as a perfect place to learn all the things to know about Webflow.
⏱️ Webflow designer - flexibility for pros and beginners ⏱️
Webflow designer is gonna be your bread and butter if you want to build a website. This tool requires no code to work with, but despite that, it has capabilities I found enough to build a rather unique-looking website. Besides using common Webflow templates, you can leave room for creativity and make custom designs for your interface. There is clearly a certain expectation here, beginners are bound to have troubles with this app, much like with Photoshop, which was clearly an inspiration for Webflow designer’s interface. But after playing around with Webflow designer’s features, I believe the learning curve is manageable, despite the slow start you might have with Webflow. “How it works?” - is the next question to answer.
Fortunately, there’s a built-in Webflow tutorial and I dare to say it does a great job of explaining the basics of the platform. It will introduce you to the interface, explaining how to manage your sections, add various elements to them and even build your own, custom layouts. You know, the actual reason you are using Webflow, and not another, less complicated platform like Site123. Actually, scratch that - if you don’t want to spend hours on tutorials and figuring out how to use a platform, you should use Site123. It’s probably the best website builder to pick up fast, and while it won’t be a professional’s paradise like Webflow, I just can’t find a better option for a beginner.
🦩 Webflow CMS editor - all management tools in one place 🦩
So that was the first half of the Webflow platform. What about the Webflow editor, is it the better half, or…. Actually, it’s incomparable.
Webflow designer is what makes your website, and Webflow editor is what makes it GREAT. It’s honestly indispensable if you are planning to have a big, ever-changing website, as managing all the content through a designer alone is a real chore. Editor, on the other hand, allows you to publish, schedule, and edit the content on your website in one place, by manipulating a single Webflow grid of all the objects.
And if you are running a project with other people involved, some plans allow you to invite guest editors and manage different content simultaneously.
🌀 Webflow for eCommerce - the best currently available builder? 🌀
I prefer Webflow as an eCommerce option, on the account of Webflow editor being such a convenient tool to manage both products and inventory with satisfying simplicity. Webflow allows you to sell both physical and digital goods, you can also set up multiple variants for existing items and managing inventory and shipping is simplified down to a single click. All the benefits of the best web tools, you know?
And if you are looking to run a successful Black Friday deal or something similar, Webflow allows you to set up limited discount campaigns, whether you are looking to limit the duration of the discount or the number of people that can use coupons.
Talking about payments, with Webflow you can accept payments from over 200 countries: credit cards, Apple Pay, Google pay, Paypal - all this jazz is within the options you can choose. Starting with the Plus plan, Webflow won’t even enact any transaction fees.
Marketing and SEO are also made easy with Webflow, just the built-in options include a lot of options you can play with to ensure your business is functioning as you intend.
That said, I’m not sure I can recommend Webflow if you are deeply involved in analytics, as the platform itself doesn’t have an in-house analytics option. Instead, Webflow will encourage using Google Analytics, and I won’t lie - it’s not always the best option to consider.
