It's a good video, although for most schools, we are given a few chapters and are simply meant to get random pieces of information coming from only one source, we are almost never given a variety of different perspectives, and it makes us to believe that we should trust the first statement that is given to us, it's quite sad really.

I'm going to be honest, you can "cheese" most of your history questions through a simple command through Ctrl + F, and you wouldn't even have to look at the entire paragraph, just look at the question, see what it's referring to (maybe a location, a time, etc)....

Copy that, Ctrl + F, Paste.

It's a pretty big flaw in how History is taught online (and even English for that matter). I've seen a lot of people asking for "answers" even though there aren't any questions, but I'll give you guys a tip that'll save you half your time, look at the questions first, and search accordingly.

Also, everyone is here because of school, whether it be a teacher or a student, who else would willingly go to this video, it doesn't even cover a specific history topic.

Here are some of definitions that you might need for hw:
Primary sources: A primary source is an original document and/ or object created at the time under study. Primary sources help us piece together the stories of the past.

Sourcing: Identifying and asking questions about the origin of the source about the author's purposes and perspective

Historical context: Historical context is about locating events and sources in time and space and asking questions to do so

Claim evidence connection: To be history stories must be supported by evidence. Truth claims in history need to be supported by evidence
That is how we distinguish plausible claims from balderdash and good history from pure fiction

From the three sources provided, I have been able to develop my own understanding of the value of learning history and why we study history. From the AHA article, by Peter Stearns, I really agreed with the point that he made of how history helps us understand how and why our society is the way that it is and how it came to be. How would we gauge the amount of progress that has been made over the years if we had no place to compare the start to. History is a collection of experiments. Through many examples of trial and error we have come to learn what works not only in our day to day lives but also the impact of government. Mistakes that have been made in the past are less likely to be repeated because of the fact that history has been recorded and we can look back on it and learn from it. Through looking from multiple perspectives and experiences, we can learn to appreciate diversity and the open opportunities that have been worked for throughout the years. Primary sources are the key in learning different perspectives of the same events and can show how people of different religions or ethnicities felt in certain situations. Studying history is such a powerful way to expand knowledge about the world and to help understand the different ways people experience the world.

Really interesting. I'm doing a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, and this helps me! I want my students to have multi-perspectivity in history. I'm so lucky to have found this
