If you need sci-fi recs pls read The Lunar Chronicles by Marrissa Meyer. I don’t really love s I-fi but Lunar Chronicles is one of my fave series pls read it!

I'm not much of a sci-fi reader either but I just finished Project Hail Mary on audio and I think it might be one of my favorite books of the year! And it surprises me so much I barely read sci-fi! So definitely recommend that! And the audio was really good!

If you keep reading red rising you’ll get more of what you want. The series gets better if you keep going.

I don’t really read sci-fi much either so I was quite surprised how much I liked skyward by Brandon Sanderson. It’s a YA so I think the sci-fi aspects were much more manageable.

if you wanna try another sci-fi book i highly recommend wool by hugh howey. i don't read much sci-fi either and absolutely LOVED that book. it was made into a tv series on apple tv too!

I feel the same about red rising....I read the first 3 books and disliked all of them lol. The Will of the Many has some of the same ideas but with MUCH better execution and plot and pacing.

I felt the same as you about red rising and i love sci fi so don’t give up on the gender. Hail mary by andy weir for example is amazing

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch is hands down the best Sci-Fi I’ve ever read. It was a 4.5 star read for me. Plus, it has thrilling aspects to it as well so it’s really fast-paced for the majority.

Also, it’s not a complete Sci-Fi, but the Scythe series sent me into a reading slump. It was SO GOOD!

Please please continue to the sequel for Red Rising. A lot of people LOVE it after not liking the first so much..

I won't lie, it hurt to see you not enjoy Red Rising because its one of the best books I have ever read. Like, with haley's rating, I also give it a 6/5 star rating. Obviously, we all have different tastes, but I truly recommend you continuing on to read Golden Son and Morning Star! I think you would really enjoy where the story goes next, it really picks up! Its kinda like pushing through ACOTAR for the rest of the series.

NINE trials?! Count me in!! However I just started kingdom of the wicked so that I can read throne of the fallen so it’ll probably be a bit until I get to it

I am 4/6 books through RR. I think the payoff for this series comes later on. Which means by the time massive things DO happen, you’ve spent soo much time with the characters that it sucker punches you. I personally love how ‘slowly’ the story moves, it feels realistic and like there’s weight to the choices Darrow makes. I love to read his internal struggles and the complexity of the true and deep relationships he builds with Gold characters. ❤

For sci-fi you HAVE to read the illuminae files!! They‘re so so good, there‘s so much happening and it‘s basically only mixed media, like it‘s literally written in files which makes it sooo fun to read!!

I tried to read red rising and had the same reaction that you had. The sci-fi book that changed sci-fi for me was Heavenbreaker. I feel it has a writing style you life to read, its explanatory, but not giving everything away. It’s so great and i truly enjoyed it. It is also giving fall so I hope you read it during this season!

Sarah have you read The Hunger Games series (all 4 books?) if not, TRY THEM!. Even if you have watched the movies you won’t regret.

Try Project Hail Mary, I’m not normally a sci-fi reader but I loved this one, best to go into it without knowing too much of the plot

you NEED to read carve the mark duology by the same author of the divergent series but it’s completely different and make me get into the sci-fi world. There’s skyward by brandon sanderson but i’m not sure if it’s sci-fi too

Red Rising is easily the best series I’ve ever read—I recommend it to EVERYONE (unless you’re very young)!!
