If you're going to watch any of the TV shows, I am BEGGING you to watch Daredevil. I haven't seen all the TV shows that take place in the MCU, nor all the movies (because superhero content burnout), but I re-watch Daredevil occasionally because I adore it so much. It's not without its issues, sure. But it's genuinely one of the most human feeling superhero media I've ever come across. Maybe I'm biased because I'm visually impaired, but I cannot praise this show enough. Please please watch it.

Having not watched most of these movies since they came out, this really put into perspective how interconnected the first 3 phases are with cameos and plotlines building a generally cohesive world. Then phase 4 and 5 come along and it's: An enjoyable prequel released too late; Shang-Chi which annoyed me because his sister deserved more closure than he did and she got pushed to the side; Eternals (which I personally hated); WOO SPIDER-MAN; then quite a few films let down by bad writing and CGI. On top of that, Marvel hitched its wagon to an abuser and is now floundering. It missed the mark with the whole secret invasion thing it's been teasing for years. And to make sense of half of this stuff the TV shows are now required viewing, and those bounce between pretty good to half baked at best.

few films let me down to a degree engame did. It was a gigantic disappointment and massive downgraded Thanos. The last movie shouldnt climax in a random villian that is not even half as powerful as before and never met basically anyone. And there was more: Fortnite playing fat Thor? Abysmal and disgraceful. freakin TIME TRAVEL as the solution??? REALLY? OK so why doesnt someone counter time travel in the future? None of this made sense. And, of course, NOBODY DIES! Loki is one of like the 3 people that actually do and gets resurrected instantly in the tv series. RDJ is also coming back. Infinity war was the real climax and in retrospect, the narrative would have been way better if Thanos actually won.

To answer your question "Was the MCU ever good?" Yes. Phase 1 and Phase 2 was the MCU at it's best. If you think not let's do a little review. Ahem!

Phase 1: Was the perfect way to start a franchise. Had it's many issues that hindered half of it's movies from being better than just Origins. Overall the greatest way to start off.

Phase 2: It is now not so good. But the Phase isn't that bad. Got Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy. The only movies that weren't really good was Thor 2 and Iron Man 3. But in their own right they aren't truly bad. Just the MCU humor hindering their respective stories to reach great heights. Then the Dark times came...

Phase 3: Now this. The Phase starts off perfect. Civil War? Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2? Oh my god they Phase started off perfect! So why the hell do it classify it as worse than the 2nd Phase? That's because bad movies no matter the goddamn quality were raking $1 Billion dollars. And the worst movie in the Phase and the ENTIRE MCU raked over $2 Billion Dollars. Dark World isn't looking too bad now. The movie i say in question is Endgame. And it's not just because it raked in over $2 Billion dollars. But the next two Phases copy the goddamn movie. Appealing to the fans with Nostalgia. No Way Home, Deadpool & Wolverine. It won't be long before Marvel realize we go in for the nostalgia movies. No wait they already realized because Deadpool 3 exists...Fuck me.

Phase 4: The bad only started getting noticed NOW. Beforehand, it could be ignored because the hylw was HUGE. But at this point the hype had died down and boom. The movies only got worse. And shows. No Way Home was the worst because it expects us to gobble it up like we're babies.

Phase 5: Started off shit. Has only had ONE good film and that in itself has issues. Borderline not good. But because the other films in the Phase are ten times worse or I just haven't seen them. Yea. Fuck me for getting invested in this universe

Okay I am NOT marvel’s biggest fan like- at all, until about uhh 3 days ago when I myself watched every MCU movie alone in my bedroom NOT for a video (I should have made it a video instead of suffering for nothing) and I’ve got a few key things to add on (buckle up this gets kinda long).
iron man 1: my absolute favorite mcu movie i think its great all around. i love how heartbreakingly earnest tony is after realizing what he and his company have done and all the death that he himself is responsible for. he WANTS to change and he wants things to change no matter who tries to stop him. i went into the iron man movies with the expectation of him being this suave smooth asshole but iron man 1 comes right out of the gate with an earnest, downright pitiful tony stark that wants to be the change the world needs. also i hate the pepper/tony romance for several reasons but also she should have just been a lesbian i think
iron man 2: Something I think you missed about Iron Man 2- all of Tony’s progress from Iron Man 1 wasn’t exactly erased, it was that he was dying and fumbling with his own mortality. He wanted to live out the last of his life as ostentatiously as possible and, yes, was an absolute asshole about it because he thought he would be dead afterward iron Man 2 deffo still not my favorite movie ever LMAO but i think you maybe went at it from the wrong angle/perspective. also to note (as a woman) i thought the stark expo scene w the women in iron man lingerie was actually pretty damn fun to watch and actually sent a text to a friend of mine saying “if elon musk threw giant parties with half naked women, maybe people would like him more”
captain america: walking to austria was not that unrealistic. the american army is just insane like that and we are all extremely aware. the distance is similar to walking from illinois to tennessee. again, insane, but not outside the realm of possibility. we DO know how big europe is and the answer is “a lot smaller than america”
the avengers: heres a sentence i never thought i would think let alone type: can we talk about how COOL the cgi robots in this movie were?? as a lover of practical effects (makes googly eyes at star wars), i LOVED those weird slug things that came out of the portal. maybe im just easily impressed but i LOVE giant robots and especially gross slug ones that take out entire skyscrapers. also the parallels to 9/11 in this movie are insane and i feel like nobody… talks about it?? immensely glad they changed hulk’s actor, great choice, uncommon for marvel but thanks ig russo brothers for doing Something right for once. loki is a treat and a blast as always. the treatment of natasha always annoyed me for Women Reasons but like. i would have been way more willing to accept this sexualized treatment of her if it were PART of her character. unfortunately every other woman in the MCU movies ultimately gets the same sexualized treatment
iron man 3: its…. fine. tony’s treatment of killian in the prologue cutscene genuinely made me angry (its a movie blahblah whatever) bc. i know tony stark of the 90s was a playboy billionaire genius whatever but i also know he of all people (built a circuit board at age 4) hasnt always been the most popular guy at the high school lunch table. drunk or not, asshole though he is, seeing tony stark treat someone like killian the way he did took me so aback that i was actually fuming by the end of the scene. tony’s ptsd and his connection with harley is an AMAZING plot point and im so glad the movie was for the most part about that sort of struggle with his own brain turned against him for the first time in his life. im glad they didnt act like going through a literal wormhole was completely fine and normal with no repercussions at all. he thought he was going to die in there and there are mental consequences to that. side note: pepper did not have to be in a sports bra, but killian is shirtless for the final battle too so whatever i guess.
the winter soldier: first of all: 💕. second of all, you missed the point of steve’s character in the beginning- hes NOT happy, thats the whole thing. he doesn’t know what to do with himself and finds a bit of solace in sam’s shared experiences. he doesn’t have any real interest in finding a date or a partner but he’s fumbling for meaning in a time period that his very being/self is rejecting. his list of things to watch is him struggling to connect with this time period that hes been forced into. some side notes: steve and natasha’s dynamic is this film was really weird to me. it seems shes the defacto love interest no matter what just bc shes the only woman in the group and that majorly bugs me. theyre pushing chemistry at the audience that just doesnt exist
age of ultron: the way tony’s character is metaphorically beat the shit out of pissed me off SO BAD!! all those previous movies for NOTHING. where is the ptsd riddled heartbreakingly earnest tony stark from before? hes idiotically reckless and tony stark is NOT idiotic. hes painstakingly genius and we see none of that in this movie. yes wanda showed him that dream of the entire world being destroyed but i am not convinced for a second that would cause tony to act so out of character as to create ultron. rant aside, ultron is a GREAT character and i love how genuinely funny his lines can be. uhh the twins’ accents are awful and obviously fake but its marvel so whatever. another note: you’ve misunderstood ultron’s character, but that’s okay. we’re going back to, again, fumbling for meaning. and tony gives him one. he’s weirdly religiously psychotic for a robot but sure why not i guess. he wants the noah’s ark of extinction events, he wants to eradicate what’s causing the lack of world peace: humans. to achieve world peace, ultron believes that humans need to go extinct. youre still weird about feet. ill go ahead and say it: hulk should have never been humanized. it minimizes banner’s utter panic and hatred for the hulk side of him. and the thing with natasha and hulk is… strange… but i know it gets weirder so im letting it go for now. the treatment of natasha’s infertility was INSANE, gross, and so incredibly disrespectful. “still think youre the only monster on the team?” BC SHE CANT HAVE KIDS? what is this.
ragnorok: this movie… could be better. thor and loki are especially sweet in this and the grandmaster is a JOY. i still dont really like the hela plot, but seeing thor ALMOST win against hulk was genuine fun! uh the odin plot was stupid and pointless but whatever. something that hasn’t been mentioned yet: in every movie that thor is in after the first thor movie, he has a lock of black hair braided in with his. this is an asgardian mourning ritual, and the hair is loki’s. its a physical manifestation of how much thor does truly STILL care for loki even after everything his brother has done. with thor’s hair being cut, that’s stolen from the viewer. so when thor says that he no longer believes in loki, we dont know if hes telling the truth or not this time. all in all im just glad the Valkyrie was fully clothed
infinity war: i dont even wanna talk about this but ive gotten this far so lets just dive in. the mistreatment of loki’s character. did loki not deserve better? am i crazy for thinking that his character deserved a little more than the death he was given? kill him off for real, sure, im all for it! but this was cheap and played for shock value and i was not and still am not for it at all. straying from the norm, i LIKE tony’s character quite a lot in this movie (endgame is. hm. but we’ll get to that). he’s confident but not cocky: he’s lost a lot and does not want to lose any more. peter means something to him and he has a world he wants to return to. he has a heart in this one and isn’t just thinking about himself for once. hes funny and suave but theres a maturity about him that was NOT present in the previous films. hes more somber and level headed and i greatly appreciate the 360 from the last time we saw him. thor’s character, let’s talk. GOOD. he is HEARTBROKEN and he is ANGRY. his brother is ripped from him in a horrifying and heartbreaking way and it SHOWS!! we’re actually SEEING it. thor prawls and strides with a tension in his muscles, shoulders drawn tight, eye chilling and cold. this is not the thor that greeted hulk with open arms and this is definitely not the thor that threw down his mug in a new mexico diner and shouted for another. this thor is so so angry. i could wax poetry about thor’s mental state but we’ll move on.
endgame: the snap changes everyone. its clear in every single frame, every single second of screentime these characters are given. lets talk about thor. im just gonna give you a moment of enraged silence while we contemplate thor. what the FUCK!! i have no words. i mean i have a lot of words but i have no words. have a character get fat in their grief, FINE, thats how it goes sometimes!! do not play it for laughs. thor was broken apart in IW and now his grief is the butt of a bad joke. everyones a little older, a little more somber, a little quieter. again, theyre all irreversibly changed by the snap. tony quite literally had peter snatched from his arms while the kid begged for his life and apologized to him over and over. wanda had everything taken from her AGAIN. anyway the ending was awesome blah blah cmon you already know that shit was awesome. do i think they needed to kill tony stark off? NO!!! THOR WAS RIGHT THERE. EVEN HULK. nooo put the MORTAL MAN in the INFINITE POWER glove. are you stupid. are you actually stupid. you have a god right there buddy. i think even peter might’ve survived it. or they should have made quill do it in recompense of his bullshit move in IW. literally anyone else?? the super soldier??

Atleast that's what I got from that scene. Because not being able to conceive children as a woman is the same as turning into a green, very angry giant.
That's SO weird and sexist/mysoginistic on so many levels. Literally what the f*ck.

My life has pretty much been like the MCU. since Avengers came out ... a lot of struggle and destruction ... a lot of faces stayed, but none of those that actually mattered ...
... and concluding with Deadpool & Wolverine ... a lot of bad taste, references ... and a lot of washed up talents ...

Deadpool & Wolverine wasn't that good.
Neither was Spider-Man no way home! ... it was a fest for people hoping to see faces again. But both stories weren't really good.
No way home had so many plot-holes problems and awkward moments ... and they have been almost all overlooked by gushing fans ... so weird ...

Im 90% sure the last marvel movie i saw in theaters was Ant-Man mostly because i took my beother to see it

At the time he thought it was gonna be some dumb hero movie. By the time the shrinking scene near the end happened, he was on the edge of his seat. He was super, super into it from there until Eternals

He still enjoys Marvel as a whole but that seemed to have soured a lot for him sadly
