As for all the waffle by Musk on his AI supercomputer and DOJO, it's clear Tesla is in serious trouble with FSD and hence all the hype on Robotaxis (the day being deferred)

you know why, Tesla FSD can't even park and piles into a police car parked on the hard shoulder of a highway, sirens flashing ?

COS It still can't SEE !!

Yes, It pretends to see, without LIDAR and simply hasn't managed uphold THE EXACTING REQUIREMENTS REQUIRED FOR >L2 Safety Standards, cos Computer Vision is one of the toughest nuts posed to AI.
(you have to have done a helluva lot of research to make the statement I just made)

How Waymo (Google) has enabled Robotaxis, only in specific cities with HD Maps, AND using LIDAR to gauge distance,
something human vision does almost magically, by triangulation of two overlapping 2-D images (image of each eye) to stitch together one 3-D image with precise information on depth...
LIDAR gives precise measurement on distance/depth, via the time a light wave is sent and received by the LIDAR system, hence the calculation of distance, or depth when converting the 2D image into 3D !

While Tesla FSD is going for Gold, in cracking CV with cameras alone, it is miles away from achieving anything near human-caliber vision...
And that's precisely why, EVEN THIS YEAR, USING FSD V12, Tesla STILL piles into a police car parked on the hard shoulder of a highway, sirens flashing, cos the pure camera suite of hardware is inadequate to match human vision.
AND DESPITE ALL THE MUSK WAFFLE, IT AINT EVEN CLOSE !!

Mark this post, it will be remembered over the next year, starting with ROBOTAXI DAY

This is absolutely incredible. I've been following these videos for a while now and it used to be so bad. Crazy to see the improvements. Side by side of similar situations in previous versions would be really cool to see. Or like a video of just one situation type and it goes sequentially through the versions showing the incremental (or not) improvement. Maybe later tho when we are even closer to full hands off.

not you starting the video off with my local Costco I go to every week haha. I recognize the buildings across the street. great vid, I didn't realize you were based that close to me!! Super cool seeing your self driving videos in areas I go to all the time!

Imagine you payed in 2019 for the option "full self driving" but even in 2024 it isn't full self driving.

So now Musk is testing V12 using us the general public at large. I wonder how many deaths will be caused by this? There is a class action law suit here to be filed against Tesla by everybody everywhere these cars are on the road.

If I buy a 2024 model Y with FSD.. which version would I get? And, if I want the car to drive on road trips that would be FSD and not autopilot, correct?

Thanks for your video. It’s the best one I’ve seen.

Can the wheel nag/attention message be overridden by the scroll wheel like before? I was told you now HAVE to grab the wheel and the scroll wheel is no longer an option. Is this correct? Thanks

since v12 is trained end-to-end it makes sense the visualizations don't matter to its decision making. We actually don't know what it bases its decisions on anymore, since it's all a black box model: visual sensor data at one end, car control actions at the other.

Admittedly I thought FSD was 5-7 years away, however the rate of improvement from v11 to v12 is unreal. This is every bit as good as most humans in any Costco parking lot and likely better than those in Walmart lots. 😆

Did these people give consent or even know that they were being tested around? This is so dangerous and unethical. I hope the car had someone behind the wheel with their foot over the brake pedal in case something went wrong. “Version 11 couldn’t do this”. How did you find out? Did it just plow through a parking lot?

The car slowed down when it was about to pass some cars or through intersections. It may have slowed due to the potential for people to jump in from of the car.

The Costco lot part was incredible. Really funny to hear it's failing on basic straight roads but so cool to see it doing these complex tasks smoothly as a human would.

I wonder if already or at some point, some of the moves it makes where us humans are like "HA, it didn't need to do that!" are actually us not being as smart as the car.... and in reality, there was true logic we didn't pick up on....and in fact the move we found odd was "smart" but we just didn't get it.... hmmm

Your reviews are great - most channels seem to hype up the FSD12 performance without barely any negative feedback. I think the assessment that the emergent behavior is fixing a lot of minor things while at the same time probably breaking some others seems totally plausible, and something Tesla can fix.

Fingers crossed it only requires some minor updates before everything, including highway driving is working - and that the folks over here in Europe can get a taste of FSD12 as well.

Thanks for sharing!
