Great video! I think darts would have improved the look and not had the fabric folding under thee arm. But very cute and so very easy! Thank you!

Thank you for showing us how to make this pattern. The only place we could buy new patterns in Morehead, KY, was at our local Walmart. When they started remodeling our Walmart, I noticed that the patterns were no longer in what is left of the Crafts and Sewing Department. With the news last week about the Big Four Patterns Companies being sold to a liquidator. I was upset. Until I remembered that I had bought two designer patterns from a designer (in Virginia) through the U.S. Mail (I found her ad in "Threads Magazine"). I also bought designer patterns in hardback books written by designers (with the full sized patterns in the books). I bought these books from a book seller through the U.S. Mail. All is not lost. We can get better instructions and ideas from the designers through their books or personal patterns.

I am curious as to why you do not sew the serged seams with the regular machine as well. My serged edges have too much play in the seam when you fold it back with only the serger. I love your stuff. I also use SureFit design system to accurately size my patterns.

What stitch length and needle do you use when sewing knits? I don't have a serger and have always been afraid to sew with knit fabrics. Such a cute tee -- thanks!

One of the first items I sewed for myself (and the very first knit garment) was a beautiful dress. Except of course, I overpulled the neckline! I'm wondering if I can just remove the existing neckband and do a version with this technique, to help keep it on my shoulders.
It's got to be worth a try, lol, as other wise I was considering cutting my losses and just converting it into a skirt.

On one of your future videos will you explain how you can get away with doing a straight stitch for the hem on stretch fabric. I’ve always understood the thread will break and that’s been my experience. Is a ball point needle -or jersey needle sufficient( but didn’t you use a universal needle)?

Thank you, Catherine; a what a nice, easy to understand video! That would be “sew” nice if you made a short series of how to duplicate some clothes we already know and love; a button-up shirt w/collar, a skirt, a princess seam blouse, a pair of pants or shorts….?

I learned to sew knit with a company called Knitwit back in the 80s in Australia. They called that neckband a Chanel finish and a concealed Chanel finish when turned to the inside. I love how your tshirt turned out.

It’s really hard in my town to find decent clothing fabric. We have Walmart and Hobby Lobby and it seems they cater mostly to crafters and quilters. I found an online fabric store called Fabric Depot which had great prices and a nice selection. Just curious to know if anyone has ordered from them and were you pleased with the quality. Has anyone found other online stores that they liked. I’m interested in purchasing fabric mostly for everyday home wear so I’m not interested in expensive fabric

I'm glad you liked the neckline done this way. It's the way I've always done t-shirts, so, thumbs up. I'm not creative, but you've given me an idea for the unisex concert and college t-shirts that I've been remaking to fit me better. I've been shortening the shoulder seam, shortening the armscye and making the sleeves smaller, but working around the printing on the front (and sometimes the back) has been challenging. Watching you, I had the idea that I could eliminate the sleeves entirely and simply create grown-on sleeves. That would preserve the printing and be less work. Thank you for this idea and for all of your videos. I always look forward to your new ones.

Catherine, I would love to see a video on how to spot quality in the clothes that we are going to modify. Things like stitching and types of material, etc.. 🫶 I love your channel and have learned so much thank you for all the hard work you are doing!

As usual, another great video! Here is something I need help with, Catherine:
I am used to shopping for fabric with my fingertips. That doesn’t work anymore, now that we all are shopping online. So, can you please teach us about fabric weights? And maybe a little something more about fabric content? My husband is getting ready to retire, and we will be moving to a warmer climate. I have always looked for 95% cotton/5% spandex because it’s comfortable and it breathes. Lately, I have figured out that some of my nicer quality cotton t-shirts are way too warm to wear in the heat. So, I am trying to find lighter, breathable, t-shirt knits that feel good and come in a variety of colors and prints. This is NOT easy to figure out! The t-shirt that you made here, though, looks suspiciously perfect 😉. So, tell us your secrets. How do you pick the right fabric, when you can’t reach out and feel it?
