Can you publish the lyrics to this? Or give us a link?
ОтветитьYou’d never get any usable tweed with this attempt!
ОтветитьIs there a full version of this song?
ОтветитьThe lyric.. is it actually about Claire? An extemporary song?
ОтветитьAs someone who's been trying to learn Gaelic, I am so glad I've found your channel <3
Do you plan to do the other Outlander songs? I would love to see the translation for "The Woman of Balnain" or any of the other Gaelic songs from the show
Absolutely marvelous!
ОтветитьThe old woman in the bonnet is my grandmother Shelia Mackay - she has a group in Newtonmore that do demonstrations and performance at the highland folk museum in Newtonmore-
ОтветитьIt wasn’t until I rewatched this episode the second time that I realised they were in fact singing “mo nighean donn”, and the song gets stuck in my head all the time now - I liked it a lot before, and love it even more now!
Ответитьsubtitles or translation are not seen!!
Ответитьis it from some movie?
ОтветитьFor those looking for the translation and subtitles, you need to turn on captions, then select Scottish Gaelic.
Ответитьi'm doing research about scots and english folk music, and this is really cool because it's an actual wool waulking song that happened to have the words "mo nighean donn." (my brown haired lass, which jamie calls claire) i just love old folk music and i love outlander for bringing in aspects such as this song into their storyline. not only is it historically accurate, it's also so lovely and well performed, and ties into the plot really beautifully. thank you so, so much for sharing!!
ОтветитьNo lyrics ???
ОтветитьNever heard this traditional song before even though I'm scottish. I felt like I fell through time myself.
Ответить
Vielen Dank!
Enya's 'Ebudae" reflects this beautifully.
Ответитьi love it!!
Ответитьma tha thu a ’leughadh seo agus gun urrainn dhut a thuigsinn, bu chòir dhut a bhith moiteil
ОтветитьI love when this show demonstrates what women did in those days and the communities they shared--and the secrets! So much of what an average woman did in an average day in the past generations is sadly lost to history...
ОтветитьSorry this is not historically accurate: they all have teeth.
Ответить"so, I saw Billy Connolly on telly last night. You know, I just don't understand his style of humour."
"Keep singing Morag !"
Its what Jamie calls Claire sometimes :)
ОтветитьThere's no subtitles . Am I missing something here
ОтветитьWhis watchin the waens? ...😊
ОтветитьFun fact: they used fresh urine to soften and waterproof the wool fabric.
ОтветитьIve been through a couple trade schools (culinary, sailing) and when you are with a group of people that you spend time all your with and you sing together its a rare type of connection and it made me understand why song and dance like these came about and was passed down
ОтветитьHow sweet it is that a song speaking of “my brown haired lass” is in this, seeing as that is what Jaime calls Claire in Gaelic ❤
ОтветитьI am very sure at least some of this is taken from Gaol Ise Gaol I
ОтветитьI’m curious if the Disney dwarves “HiHo HiHo off to work we go” has descended from the “Hì rì rì ho hì hò”. Anyone know?
ОтветитьThis is apparently what my female ancestors did to get our surname Walker. ❤
ОтветитьI loved so much first time I heard it ❤❤❤ so beautiful
ОтветитьIf you love our ain folk ,you must stop illegal economic migrants and the spread of the death cult Islam via the First Muslim Minister and his ilk that hate the locals, but have their eyes on its beauty.
ОтветитьLove the song and the rythm!!!
ОтветитьThis variety of "working song" is more commonly called "puirt".
ОтветитьYou had a vote to be free… please be free in the future
