I never really thought about it. The SNES had some really good looking games.
ОтветитьDk country does NOT hold up today 😂
ОтветитьYou can thank, Megaman 9, Shovel Knight and like a billion other indie developed games for bringing back and keeping pixel art alive.
ОтветитьBecause it was quality not quantity back then not garbage like fortnight
Ответитьsnes era is the best
ОтветитьSNES was peak 2D bitmap graphics. Went back to the pong type consoles, through the Ataris and commodores and SEGAs and what have you.
Technically there were a few more powerful (Amiga, X68000, etc), but I think SNES nailed nail.
The generation after, the first 3D one, just hasn’t aged well. 3D hasn’t peaked yet as far as I can tell.
It's the art style! At the end of the Famicom/NES and Master Systems generation, 2D graphics were pretty good looking especially compared to the beginning of the generation and even more so when compared to something like the Atari VCS (2600). With the SNES and Genesis (and other consoles of that generation), because the graphics were 16 bit, they had even more detail than before and were able to look even better. The 2D graphic art style pretty much became mastered and it wasn't until 3D graphics (Especially low poly 3D graphics) that game developers basically had to restart with mastering graphics.
ОтветитьYup. N64 games didnt age well either but some gamecube games look modern
ОтветитьYeah, I don’t think so. Most modern pixel art games use technology that was not available on the super Nintendo, like lighting effects, shadows, surpassing the sprite, limit, etc.. maybe you could convince an actual child 🤷♂️😂
ОтветитьI say 16 bit Sonic games aged well too.
Sonic Mania didn't even have to drastically change the graphics to fit
The 16 Bit era is probably the most timeless era of gaming. Most of the games made for those systems still look great and hold up today
ОтветитьAnother reason it has aged so well is because Nintendo upgrades hardware and graphical fidelity in games so rarely that it still fits it's style and genre of games in many cases, even with newer titles still being created in a similar quality
Ответитьshrek is 23 years old
ОтветитьDid you just say SNES as a word?
ОтветитьStill have my original cartridge with my old playthrough 😅
