Mayo its own local famines in the late 1800's.
So surely anything owned by the Palmer estate in Ireland, where one isn't resident, should be taken back by our state.

And still they teach you in your schools, about those glorious days of rule, and how it’s your destiny to be, superior to me, but if you’ve any kind of mind………..

This history is not much different from what Israel is doing to the Palestinians today. Such a shame that humanity hasn't evolved in any meaningful way in centuries, in spite of all the scientific and technological advances that provide modern day conveniences to those of us who can afford them.

Think of how many stories there are just like that. Living under the whim of some foreign cold-hearted landlord who sucked the wealth out of your country and saw you as an inferior form of life.

As far as I’m aware the English colonised nearly 90 percent of the world and left devastation for the countries in its wake

What British thieving occupiers did in Ireland - and across the globe - is beyond depraved. It makes me nauseous.

Julie's family was a friend of my father's family in Islanaidy, the little road out of islanaidy was walked by my father barefoot to school, hail rain or shine. Julie's family were the same. Mayo is like a magnet to me. I have an uncle buried in Islanaidy cemetery. It's so coincidental that Julie's family moved to Birmingham very close to my aunt Julia O'leary. Avery small world.

Most every country has a similar story. North, Central and South America, Africa and even the European countries depending how far you want to go back in history and if you pick up the paper it continues today.

The Brits are responsible for most of the wars in every part of the world. It's such a pity that they are so ignorant of their history.

The 13 colonies were 1.6% Catholic on July 3, 1776. I've always wondered to what degree travel restrictions and Yankee attitudes contributed to the suffering. No matter what, hats off to Yankees that gave famine relief. Every creed has what I called "protest ants" when I was a kid. Special mention to the Choctaw. Appreciation for all Americans that suffered resource competition from my Yank-American family.
