That's how it works with pathologically lying malignant narcissists like trump, musk, and putin who have NO conscience, and no feelings for anyone or anything in the world except for their own wants, needs, and desires, and other people are mere props and pawns to be used and then discarded if they make waves, or they aren't useful anymore. People like putin, trump, and elon identify greedy, power hungry people (putin identified trump as such and it would not be surprising that melania has been a russian asset since the '90s, and she was sent in to trap trump, and also put up with his antics with other women, while funneling more dirt to putin through the years), collect compromising dirt on them, and hold that dirt over them to get them to comply with their demands.
There is no doubt in my mind that trump has nasty dirt on several republican politicians he collected during his first campaign and presidency (probably took a play from putins play book, and accomadations at mar-a-lago and trump hotels have rooms wired for audio and video in order to collect compromising dirt on powerful people) that he threatens them with exposure if they don't comply with his demands. I also think that some of the repub politicians he doesn't have as much, or any dirt on, have had their lives and/or the lives of their family threatened and those politicians are afraid of what could happen if they don't comply with trumps and elons demands.

This is putins America now, and this is how things work when someone is playing chess, while not-so-bright trump doesn't know how to play chess because he has the attention span of a gnat.

You do know that the US spends more on its military than all the other countries combined. Even if it halved its military budget, it would still be outspending China and Russia by ridiculous amounts. First of all, the US needs to cut its military by at least two thirds - unilaterally. Then it can talk about parity with Russia or China.
