Foxhole | Worth it in 2022? | Unbiased detailed review

There’s so much to like about this game, it’s scale, flexibility, aesthetics and diversity of various roles.

God, I wanted to love it so much…the reason I didn’t was because ultimately it didn’t respect my time as a player.

It’s SO easy to get killed and every time you are, you’ve got to start FROM SCRATCH…EVERY TIME.

This means spawning at a base, and having to re-equip everything you’ve just lost (and re-equipping takes time…you have to select a gun, ammunition for it, you need to load that ammunition into the gun, then select a uniform depending on the role you’ve chosen to respawn as, equip a gas mask, grab bandages, grab grenades, and the more you carry, the slower you move leaving you more vulnerable to being killed).

You leave the base with all this done and you can VERY easily be killed within 30 seconds….then it’s rinse and repeat the above.

If a game is not going to respect my time, I’m not going to respect it.

Pinnacle of gaming. No argument about it.

Good explanation but you leave out one of the biggest downsides.

Any fight over a bridge crossing gets boring very quick and there are a lot of them! destroyed bridges are even worse, and there are a lot of them. It just turns into to a stalemate as neither team can cross.

How does the game deal with alts? I know it was a problem in the Planetside games until they bought in time restrictions between switching sides.

I can already tell as someone who can get burned out quickly i would NEVER want to check the map when offline.

This games great. Everything you use is made by someone. Community is friendly all working to a common goal. Because it's persistent it means you'll need to not only work with those who are playing when you are but even plan with people in another time zone to make sure the next shift of soldiers know what to do

I want a medieval version of this game

Joining a war mid war as a new player was overwhelming for me at first. Not being able to understand the current situation and strategy makes it really difficult to contribute at first

That shirt comment reminded me the remake of" all quiet on the western front" where they d take the uniforms from dead soldiers, patch em up and give em to new soldiers ;p

Most of clans are doing its own thing, also blocking usualy resources for solo players, Nobodya cares for anything on front usualy. One side always have only crap usless guns, while other make swiss cheese out of you with machine guns. What I saw for that short time, there are only handfull of logi players that delivers needed materils on front. Also, lack of any kind of progression has huge bad impact ony my will to play. I am kinda too late to ask for refound now so i complain...what else. All in all it is not fun waiting hours on end to get some resources to be able to make at least one truck of materials, ammo and guns for front lines. LOads of trucks lies all arround map locked, If you see some resources mines piled up on one spot, be sure that they are guarded by some clan. All in all I am hugely dissapointed in game, I guess I expeced more fro it and did not think clearly before buying.

I purchase this game after checking out videos like this. To tell the truth either you love this game or you hate. I bought and I absolutely hate it. It's like going for work. The tutorial is bad, like all these type of games. There is a huge variety of roles, which you don't know how to play them even badly or at all. There is a huge variety of materials to gather and mine and one thousand ways to produce vehicles. But again you know of them. You get confused all the tiem with the stations and substations and materials. The game is about 90% logistics and gathering and 10% actions. Sure you can go to the battlefield of course. Again there is nowhere to find how or where to fight. Y9u just follow other people and die usually. Something 8n the learning process I guess by still super difficult. Very hard to cope with where to resupply, which ammo is for which rifle, many times over y9u get the wrong ammo because there isn't always an easy reference for the ammo of the gun. What's the difference of med kit and how to use, what's the difference of bandage and when to use. Yeah, you can 9n the battlefield and fight but you lose like ab9ut 70% of them game as it is oriented mostly to gather resources like in real war. Thus, my frustration thinking to be my next full time online game but no. Even though I play complicated games, this is way to complicated for my taste. I dont want to click all the time over metal to mine it like a worker, I want to have some fun. Mining resources or walking 10 mins to enter a 10 sec battle isn't so mu h fun. I don't know if it is getting better if you play with friends. I don't have friends who play this online so I was alone. I wanted to give a full review as well to deter people like me buying something they won't like. I don't want to say it is a bad game because the opinion is subjective.

Never played. Sounds like if you are learning you are wasting resources and time spent by other players. I already feel bad thinking about how I'd probably make my teammates session worse simply by existing in foxhole.

You didn't once mention the community that can be toxic as hell to new players

sounds cool but if the war last 15 days on average my first impression of this game is my gameplay makes absolutely no difference to the outcome. Huge turn off, sounds boring.

If only anxiety doesn't get the better of me because player count and scared if the game is dead

Great review of the game. Saw this mentioned on another game review and considered it. Will defo try it after this review. Sounds really interesting to play with lots of cool touches, nuances and a variety of gameplay approaches to undertake!

there used to be a game like this called Shattered Galaxies, it was fucking amazing

When Foxhole released , you could steal peoples trucks and just annoy them by blocking roads and you could do so much more , but that has now been lost with the new updates over the years :(

Great vid, been getting recommended foxhole for a while but have put it off my radar until now simply because of its price. I'm seriously considering getting it now and this helped 😅.

Looked for a video to explain the game to a friend who never heard of it. I think this one is doin a pretty good job for it - even years later.

I mean, this is very biased. It's very detailed and no doubt useful to some, but very biased.
My experience was I logged on, I spent 20 mins or so in the training area learning interactions, then I was off to the front lines surrounded by players talking russian, and then shot multiple times in a row because we were attacking a hill where the enemy could see us but we couldn't see them.

Controls are pretty clunky, after just under 2 hours (steam refund window), i gave up.

There were so many other details I could have included in this amazing, huge, bombastic war game. The more you carry, the slower you move and eventually you end up falling over! Each time you reload you expend the whole magazine, so choose wisely! Have you been considering Foxhole? It's not right for everyone, but strategy and shooty war fans should seriously consider it, especially in the next sale! Any questions, let me know :)
