First! I mean first on second upload.
ОтветитьOnly 18200 people want to live longer. How do you interpret that data?
ОтветитьI gotta know who is giving these things their names and why.
ОтветитьJust as a heads up: "An overview of polyamine metabolism in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma" appears to suggest that high levels of spermidine (and other amines) may assist the growth pancreatic cancer...? I also found a study called "The effect of spermidine on autoimmunity and beta cell function in NOD mice" that seemed to show that mice on spermidine had higher incidences of diabetes. Obviously very specific type of mouse related but might be worth a look...?
Ответитьit's all in fermented soybeans
ОтветитьWhat are your sources of these substances?
ОтветитьAnother great video, Michael! Where do you get spermidine in your diet? Do you source it from wheat germ, mushrooms, broccoli, soy, or something else? There is one study on spermidine in the human diet and its potential impact on aging - American Journal of Nutrition: "Higher spermidine intake is linked to lower mortality: a prospective population-based study" Authors: Stefan Kiechl, Raimund Pechlaner, Peter Willeit, Marlene Notdurfter. There is also this new study that has a lot of references published in 2021: New Insights into the Roles and Mechanisms of Spermidine in Aging and Age-Related Diseases by Yu-Qing Ni. Thank you and keep up the great work and videos!
ОтветитьI have eaten 25-50 gm of natto almost every day for 20 years. According to the USDA, this amounts to something like 5-10 mg of polyamines/day. Thanks for these videos.
ОтветитьThe rare amino acid Ornithine significantly increases polyamine synthesis.
ОтветитьHi Michael, I am a bit surprise that your spermidine level is not higher considering the amount of mushrooms and vegetables you are eating. There is this study:
"High-Dose Spermidine Supplementation Does Not Increase Spermidine Levels in Blood Plasma and Saliva of Healthy Adults: A Randomized Placebo-Controlled Pharmacokinetic and Metabolomic Study"
that says that spermidine is not absorbed in the body. They noticed that spermine level increased with spermidine supplementation, so they speculate that the positive effects of spermidine may be due to its conversion to spermine.
Perhaps spermidine exerts its positive effect by affecting the gut. Kind of like curcumin , it has very low absorption but it seems to have positive effects on the fut microbiome. Just wondering.
Also maybe spermidine is created inside the body and the process decreases with age, don't know.
Michael - the URL for your Metabolomics link is not quite right. It needs a "/" in front of the "?" for your name to be recognized as a patron selects the link. Otherwise, orders are made without your credit. I remain incredibly grateful and impressed at your contribution to us mere humans. :) Thank you for all that you publish and educate.
ОтветитьDoes the blood sample sent to IOLLO comes from the tip of the finger?
Ответитьdoes supplementing spermidine from wheat germs make sense? I'm not fan of mushrooms.
ОтветитьHi. Seems my comment got deleted. Found this study: "High-Dose Spermidine Supplementation Does Not Increase Spermidine Levels in Blood Plasma and Saliva of Healthy Adults: A Randomized Placebo-Controlled Pharmacokinetic and Metabolomic Study" Just curious about your thoughts about it. Is it relevant to you? Is it a good study?
Also wonder about your thoughts regarding chlorella as a "whole" food spermidin source. A company named plantpills claim their chlorella contain 900mg/kg, which would be the largest amount in any food as far as I know.
The Joaquim et al 2019 cohort you compare to are average age 75, much older than yourself. Here is a new paper with a younger control cohort: Positive Correlation between Relative Concentration of Spermine to Spermidine in Whole Blood and Skeletal Muscle Mass Index... Sanayama et al Biomedicines 2023, 11(3), 746. They use controls of average age 45 and compare to dialysis patients.
Interestingly it shows the controls have a higher Spermine to Spermidine ratio.
Does Iollo output ornithine Michael?
ОтветитьMIchael, I've just started using Iollo too but having a bit of trouble interpreting results. My spermidine results for example was fairly good, 4.8 uM and my Taurine was ~100 uM, which Iollo interpreted as optimal. But taurine in the literature and in typical blood tests panels (Quest and Labcorp) is for plasma (or serum) while we provided dried whole blood. Taurine values for whole blood in the literature is a lot higher than plasma for example. Iollo web site does not clarify nor does their AI. From what you know should I be interpreting Iollo results as serum or plasma levels as opposed to whole blood. Even the literature is a bit sloppy in using these terms, or it's my lack of understanding.
ОтветитьDo you have any literature on Spirmadine being too high causing stroke?
ОтветитьBoron. Increases plasma cysteine and homocysteine, and decreased liver S-adenosylmethionine, S- adenosylhomocysteine, and spermidine.
Zinc. Essential synthesis of coenzymes that mediate biogenic-amine synthesis and metabolism.
Polyamines: Agmatine, Cadaverine, Putrescine, Spermine, Spermidine.
