Mimir isn't perfect though. Id argue most of his stories are him failing.

We don't have to see it, we hear it with every horrible action he talks about and every regret he has ever had.

His entire story is a young horny party guy doing whatever to increase his influence, making horrible genocidal mistakes and advice and slowly realizing the part he played in evil over the years.

He isnt without mistake...he just made them all already.

He doesn't give wrong advice because he doesn't give advice without knowing he is right. He will say he doesn't know an answer or what to do if he doesn't.

He isn't perfect but, he is a man that already made his mistakes

My favorite mimir quote is "There comes a time in every man's life when he changes his name and heads north to make a new start"

Comparing Spock to Rick is honestly a bit insulting. Spock has so much emotion in so many scenes. I remember an episode where he gets put face to face with an "evil" counterpart to him, and manages to successfully argue to that counterpart that being nice is the logical behavior.

The way Mimir talks isn't just to lore dump or teach you. Its his own personal life stories, he is talking to you like you would a friend at the bar. He is so well written and you just can't help but love him. He isn't just a tool for the story be an important character in the growth of our main characters and in my eyes become a main character himself.
You mention how he's a perfect character and i'm so glad they gave Mimir more to work with in terms of failures and regrets which we help him overcome, just like he did with our protagonist long ago.

I don't think there weren't any flaws noted in God of War 4 from Mimir. The story of the 8 armed Giant is a good example. Mimir's council is what led to the giant's demise. Then there is the tale of how he supposedly caused Odin to mutilate himself in a ruse to become a member of his court. But the biggest flaw was the one that was practically staring at us the whole time: Freya. It was his actions that led to Freya's condition in the game. Had he not brokered her marriage to Odin pretty much the entire plot of both games doesn't exist (flaws included).

Ok I have to debunk you spok does have his emotions and usually says it was logical he still cares for his teammates even tho he doesn't show it and the reason he doesn't show it a lot is because he was born and raised on Vulcan where logic was put above emotions

Im pretty sure the whole "smartest man alive as a severed head" thing was actually part of the mythology storyline, not a creative decision from Santa Monica Studio - but either way it works perfectly for a gameplay perspective and just all around makes for an interesting third companion that shares stories, talks about Norse mythology, and whatever else he wants while on their journeys.

Mimir is the best friend Kratos could ever have. Kratos is incredibly strong, while Mimir is incredibly smart and wise. And both have made many mistakes in their past, when Mimir didn’t have the wisdom and empathy that being trapped in a tree for centuries can bring, and when Kratos lost himself to rage and despair.

I dont think mimir could have saved svartelheim. He could've lessened the occupation, yes, but he really didn't have much of a say if odin left the dwarfs alone or not.
Vanaheim was able to resist odins conquest because they are the other main power in the 9 realms
(Alfheim is too caught up with civil war and odin doesnt need the light so he has no reason to invade alfheim, the giants have dissapeared, musphelheim doesnt really have an army, hells army never gets mobilised exceot for cases like ragnarok). Dwarfs in svartelheim, however, have almost no power compared to the aesir. No gods of their own. As sindri says in the first game, dwarfs tend to not like using the weapons they make, hense the stepping in the realm between realms technique they have. They cant exactly abandon their home either or flee because odin will find them. There's literally nothing the dwarfs could've done to escape odins dictatorship and exploitation. If they did flee, where they would settle to would be destroyed by odin as mimir says, "If odin can't use them, no one can." So really the only thing mimir could do was soften the blow. However, he could've done things to reduce what odin did to the dwarfs, and also not do things like enslave the giant whale and build the mining rigs

As someone who has inadvertently been stripped of my emotions to the point where the I only can only feel emotions in the very moment they arise and then immediately go away I envy those who have the ability to truly feel something and understand morality, for I understand it but only academically. For instance I could see a person hurt maybe even dieing and I would see the need to help them but there would be nothing behind it only the social aspect that is helping others. I can choose to feel empathy but it is a choice not an automatic response. I am highly intelligent but without the ability to truly understand what and how other live and see there lives through non emotional means.

Man I love death stranding lmao, my favorite playable movie.

I am partial to how GoW conveys its exposition but I just can't find it within myself to not enjoy how death stranding delivers ( hah) things and I adore the cut scenes.

It is however counter to most design decisions in the new god of wars. It is a lot of control taken out of the player's hands thus me calling it my favorite playable movie instead of game.

Mimir is like if you had 30 minutes beforehand to perfect EXACTLY what you want to say in order to communicate your point, and then you just did that for every conversation you spoke.

I have to disagree with your statement about Kratos being top easy on Mimir for the mining rigs. Even if Mimir was on their side, the dwarves would likely not win a war against the Aesir. They'd put up a fight, but Thor would've eventually pulverized all of them. Mimir is definitely right to feel guilt about not doing everything he could, but it really was an impossible position he found himself in

I’m glad you brought up the comparison to characters like Spock or Rick. The people who idolize Rick always bothered me, mostly because the story makes a point that Rick is miserable and his own callousness and lack of empathy was the very cause of that. Even Rick was aware of that great fault, but that subset of fans only saw Rick’s most surface self and completely missed his nuance

The game is very good, the story and the writing are very good but the animations kill me, how he opens a chest, how you upgrade something in the pop appears and you need to wait, seems like the game wants you to waste your time every single time you lose control of the character, a finisher something like this.

One thing I noticed about Mimir’s introduction is how tense it was at first. Both parties carefully probing each other.

It is presented pretty seriously until Mimir drops the “cut of my head” which is when his jokester nature comes to light.

You also notice that he clearly has a plan and is selling himself from the start. Offering rare knowledge “every war fought every deal struck” this is what you tell someone when you want to impress them with your value.

He also works because in the group dynamic of the stern leader Kratos and the juvenile Arteus, he works as a conversation partner for both and has clear dynamics with both.
