Enfin un morceau de légende joué par son compositeur de légende merci Arthur SMITH la magie de Guitar Boogie est éternelle .
ОтветитьJe pensais qu'il n'y avait aucune vidéo sur cette belle oeuvre qu'est guitar Boogie jouée par arthur Smith merci à tous ...
ОтветитьOh yeah Arthur was good on the guitar, not a Chet Atkins but he wasn't bad ! I watched his show a lot when I was growinig up in eastern NC ...Never cared much for his brother Ralph though. Thanks for posting this !
ОтветитьArthur Smith's "Guitar Boogie" actually broke onto Billboard's country charts Christmas week in 1948 on the MGM label and climbed to #8 in 1949 over a seven-week run. The flip side, "Boomerang,:" also reached #8 but faded after four weeks. Smith, born in 1921, ran a recording studio in Charlotte, South Carolina.
Ответить....still unbelievable...easy to see why it launched thousands of guitar players in its wake...
Ответитьgrande!!!
ОтветитьTommy plays it better
ОтветитьOf course, because he improved it himself
ОтветитьTommy may play it faster & improvised it alot. But even he'll tell ya arthur wrote the song.
ОтветитьThis is basically a tune that every guitar player must be able to play. Pure and simple playing at its best. Good to hear a tune w/o all the electronics as normally is the case these days
Ответить@thijsderoo, does it matter to you that Smith wrote the song and originated the riffs and melodies? Being first does matter, doesn't it?
ОтветитьI am glad to say this man is part of my family!
Ответитьoh! great
ОтветитьTommy's version is NOT better just different. Arthur was the first To record a guitar version of the boogie. It sold millions. And on a D-28 too and not on electric. Thumbs up all the way. Ken, Toronto
Ответитьthe old man still can
ОтветитьTommy's version is not better, just different. This is sweet after all these years I get to see Arthur Smith play the Guitar Boogie. Originally recorded with a D-28 so I've read. Ken, Toronto
Ответитьi know some of the older folks around wilkes will enjoy this.this was the number one t.v. show on channle 3 back in the 50s& early 60s
Ответить@tommydapie123 FYI- The dude is Arthur's son Clay. Clay isn't as good as his Dad nor did he ever claim to be. He played with his dad for years and does a considerable amount for recording, producing and editing in Charlotte. The Smiths were members of Providence Baptist Church and entertained at church functions as did George Hamilton IV. Tommy Emmanuel played in Charlotte in July and although Arthur was unable to attend, Tommy acknowledged him before playing GB.
ОтветитьArthur Smith was the original writer of Duelin' Banjos, which he recorded with Don Reno and called it Feudin' Banjos. Arthur on tenor banjo and Don of five string. He waited until the Deliverance movie came out and then sued because they thought the song was PD. He got a very handsome settlement I understand. Little man 1, Big movie moguls 0. Atta boy Arthur.
Ответитьlol headbang 0:34
ОтветитьDAm first rock n roll song 1948
Ответитьmerci cher Arthur pour ce mythe musical et immortel "Guitar Boogie" qui m'a donné envie de faire de la Guitare très tôt et qui est devenu mon métier ....
Ответить@ArkRed1 I know the song very well, but didn't know that story. Gave my day a good start :) Arthur and Don are my two favourite guitar pickers!
Ответить@BoCorky Thanks for posting that. Makes me adore Tommy that much more. Gotta respect where it came from, you know.
ОтветитьI like Tommy's version od Guitar Boogie on his newest "Little by Little" album. Tommy used his Wayne Henderson guitar on the recording.
ОтветитьFun to play on the guitar Arthur's version is much more to my liking mainly cause Tommy's is to much work.
