At 58 and getting serious about going down a mountain on a bike I truly feel I've struck gold finding your series of videos. They are well laid out, well filmed, and each topic is explained in a manner thats easy to make the connection with. Fantastic job Ben, and all behind the camera...

Since watching this I now ride with the mindset WWBD! What Would Ben Do! I even say it out loud. And that one phrase "You have this obstacle, look to the next!"

I watched this particular vid with my partner, she asked "Don't you already know this stuff?" and I was like, "Sure, but you can always learn new things!" This really helped and I've knocked time off all over the place now! Thank you Ben!!!

Nice but i have 2 complaints.
Why he rides a moped
Why cutting tru the grass everywhere? The challenge is given by the limits of the track. If everyone keeps cutting corners or arcing way out, we end up with boring rollercoster-style tracks.

whoever makes the closed captions for pinkbike doesn't even sanity check what they write - "swearing in a boat" instead of 'swerving about' is a good one

So, how do I hire Ben to just take me out and teach me? Tell me that wouldn't be a day and money well spent! I have been sharing these videos with a friend of mine and as soon as the trails are dry and open we're headed out to practice this series start to finish. Because despite riding the trails, after watching this, I could definitely use some improvement lol. Great stuff!

Best MTB video ever created. Amazing. Not just to help riders, but I could point any friend from other disciplines to this video to see what MTB is all about (climbers, backcountry skiers etc would immediately "get it"). It literally could be titled "This is the essence of mountain biking".

Love Ben's videos and the production crew! Top notch. However, I feel this video missed a large swath of line choice: climbing! The rules probably apply somewhat, but with added dimensions like leg fatigue, in-saddle vs out, and heartrate management (at least me, ha!), slow-speed handling techniques required for line A vs a longer line B, etc.. Perhaps there's other videos covering climbing aspects that I've missed.. time to go search for them.

I find that if I read tricky sections from the bottom, i.e., work backwards from the exit, I often find a different line that I missed looking at it from the entrance.

I don’t know if anyone else feels this, but I definitely usually see like a trail or as if theres water running down the mountain as I pick my lines. As if the ground is being pulled in that direction

Although the most important skill especially for a beginner trying to stay alive, it is also the most difficult to master. While riding slower helps, there are some obstacles which are best done with a little speed. Line choice often makes the difference. Best to learn the trail first, possibly even by walking it, before tempting fate.
