ОтветитьAs a student (ex) of Latin American history all of this was very familiar to me but I have to say never have I heard it retold in such a compelling and erudite way, enhorabuena Paul, great depth and detail and a great story of history brought to life, Hugh Thomas, Miguel Leon Portilla and others would be smiling down on you for such homage to Mexican history.
ОтветитьWhy start at the dinosaurs though...?!
ОтветитьI am addicted to this channel , my god!
ОтветитьWhen a historian starts telling me about dinosaurs, I know we're in trouble

ОтветитьPaul brings a humanity to the carnage that transforms this material

ОтветитьThis was like a perfectly crafted novel or movie all rolled into one. So expertly done.
ОтветитьThe Clovis first narratieve has been disproven. The Americas were inhabited by modern humans much earlier than 10.000 BCE. Evidence consists of sites with remains proving human presence up to a least 23.000 years ago, but also intruiging DNA signals in South America, proving an Australasian connection of at least 40.000 years old if I am correct.
ОтветитьI work in mexico city historic center area , and often i think of this episode, sometimes i go to the zocalo and get chills down my spine thunking of what happened

ОтветитьThe Aztecs were savage colonizers. The last ones to get to the Valley of Mexico looking for the Promised Land (=Lebensraum=Manifest Destininy), they were hated by all the nations enslaved. Tenochtitlan was built with the blood of the slaves, who were delivered every six months to be killed. The Spanish arrived as liberators to help the oppressed nations shake off the brutal rule of the savage Aztecs.
ОтветитьFor me personally it sounds more reasonable that they sacrificed politicians when times were hard instead of sacrifice for the sun😅 but i could be wrong
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьThis is TERRIFIC! Thanks so much!
ОтветитьLOOP FOREVER
ОтветитьHeck yeah brother !
ОтветитьOver hunting? Even isolated and Island populations of mammoth went extinct with lions, wolfs and bears constantly stalking various herds in the mainland making them easily scared. It must've been difficult next to impossible to harvest all the meat without being followed or attacked especially by predators or other Mammoths, if similar to their elephant cousins. Various traps, cliff jumps or corrals were later inventions while buffalo still roam the plains. The Mexica had a multipurpose zoo for rituals, food and maybe feathers even venoms with 400 species used for rituals
ОтветитьThank you for the amazing work. I hope the love from all us fans can keep the fire going for you. ❤
ОтветитьI love your videos and podcasts! Two pronunciation notes: jícama is HEE-ka-ma; quetzal is ket-ZAAL.
