I have the OG xbox one, haha good to know. Though I play pc aswell which is why I never upgraded my OG Xbox. Excited to get similar performance on my TV

Why is optical audio so important? It was never more than a gimmick for audiophiles. It's even less relevant now that HDMI supports lossless stereo and 7+1 whereas S/PDIF only supports lossless stereo and lossy 5+1. And if you absolutely must have an optical connector for compatibility, most TVs have optical audio output for soundbars etc. So why does it matter that neither the Series X / S nor the PlayStation 5 have optical audio?
