Northwest China was hit by extreme weather. Zhidan County, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province experienced record-breaking heavy rain on the evening of August 8, with the maximum rainfall reaching 179.1 mm. A large number of cars were swept onto the road by flash floods, and rescuers rescued many trapped people.

Waterlogging occurred in many areas of the city, with Chenghuangmiaogou, Xiyanggou and Qianqiaogou being severely affected. More than a hundred vehicles were swept away by mud and water, and residents' houses were damaged.
