Great video I was wondering what you liked with black. Do you ever play the scandinavian where the queen comes out and goes to a5, or the modern (?) scandinavian (not sure the name but the queen doesn't move and you give up the pawn, playing knight f6 and pawn c6)? I ask because it seems weird how the queen comes back again to d8.

Silman said mastering the imbalances is the KEY to playing strong chess.

Aren't you afraid of the opponent tranposing into the Blackmaer gambit? That's what I like to do, cause I don't like playing against the Scando, and the Blackmaer s one of the easier openings for me, I don't know why. I think the pattern recognition is easier to recognize.

Thanks very much for spending some time in converting that endgame. That was instructive and practical. Great lesson!

for me it's the opposite I try to memorize as much as possible 😂 that's why I prefer theory based openings

Thank you for doing this! I found it really helpful. Perhaps you've already covered it in another video, but I would definitely be interested in hearing more about your decision to switch to the Scandi. I was surprised because it feels like white has to memorize a lot to play against the Scandi. I too want to avoid memorization and focus on strategy as much as possible

I used to play this opening as black, Qa5 variant. That was until I got destroyed one day in a tournament.

This is a great channel. I started playing with intention this year. My rating is only 450 and rising but with your advice I’m working through bots that are 1500 and find myself at a tactical advantage more and more purely through intentional piece development. Thanks for the content.

How do you keep your cool in such endgames, with multiple "chapters" to them? With knights, particularly for us amateurs, it's easy to blunder fork tricks and such. And when we lose one imbalance that we have grown to put hope into, it is very difficult to shift thinking to come up with another plan.

Just found your channel and watched like five videos in a row. I used to play Go (and I'm looking back to getting into it soon), but I decided to get into chess recently too, so I've been looking for new learning materials. Your channel's great! Your "Keep it simple, stupid!" style of playing is how I played/play Go, and I think it's really great advice. It's nice seeing it work so well in chess, too!

It was fun seeing you get some push back and slowly work through it for the win in this one, too. I did see you mention playing more human opponents for your videos, and I think that'd be fun to see, too. You said it was a bit tougher to make human games work for videos, but I think even if you played lower ranked players to save on calculation time, or played subscribers/fans who understood you'd be pausing to talk/calculate for the audience, it'd be fine and a lot of fun to watch.

Anyway, thanks for all the great videos. I just bought your book to support you a bit as thanks! Keep up the good work! ^^
