Excellent video Mr. Justin.
What is the name of the instrument for measuring the inside diameter of the guide???
Regard.

ok you showed 5 or 2.5 per side . Now what should it be ????? and how much more do we want on exaust wich runs hotter and should need more clearance ???

For the "wiggle" test, not even dividing by 2 will get you the correct reading because it will be worn in a cone shape. The first of a few considerations is to realize that the stem is now "longer" than the valve guide, and as such the clearance is exaggerated. If you wave your arm (valve stem) 1 foot holding a stick the length of your arm (protruding valve stem and head), the end of the stick (valve head) now moves 2 feet. But it isn't 1:2 in reality. You need to divide by the ratio of (valve length -protruding tip@spring area):length of valve guide. Next you need to consider the valve clearance at the tip as that end wobbles opposite the valve head... and that's another triangle to calculate. Without doing this, you're at an over-estimate of clearance, so if it's good here, you're good to go. If it's questionable, get the proper tool (split ball gauge or preferably small bore dial guage) and measure accordingly. A cone-shaped gauge can work as well because we're really only concerned with the clearance at the lower end of the now-cone-shaped guide.

Chilton's says ford FE valve guide clearance is 0.0010 to 0.0027. When I measure "wiggle" with a .001 dial indicator in a solid Noga stand / Im running .0020 to .0035 side to side on the indicator. I can feel a little wiggle but they seemed tight enough by feel to me. Can I reuse these heads as is or do I need guides?
