Happy early Veterans Day to all the men and women who keep our country safe! Also I don’t know if you take requests but when applicable to do your favorite CCW pistols? Thank you sir for the fantastic videos once again! God Bless
ОтветитьNice shooting. Those classic service rifle matches are always a lot of fun. I usually do the cabin fever challenge from the Canadian channel rifle chair. Loving your FAL and nylon 66 in the back round. I have each of those too.
ОтветитьThat style spotting scope is inadequate for my liking. Many years back I purchased one that is more like a telescope (4x10 with a mirror) and I have NO issues trying to see 100 yards. No strain no pain.
Ответитьgreat video Howard and Semper Fi
ОтветитьWell done, thanks for taking us along
ОтветитьI’m glad you took a second try at this.
ОтветитьMi2 Ball, like most military grade items, is procured from the lowest bidder. The government gets what it paid for. As you say, the bad guy still would not be feeling well with any of those shots.
I don't have any working vintage military firearms but I do have several Mauser action rifles. My Yugo K98 clone has a broken firing pin and is unique to Zastava. It was cost more than the rifle is worth to machine a new one.
Considering how you normally shoot I had no doubt the first group was ammo related. The second was more representative of a Marine. I'm a little jealous; your M1 is purtier than mine.

US Army
The M1 might just be the most fun rifle to shoot. 10lb 30-06 with great sights, loud boom, and satisfying ping. Love mine
ОтветитьNice Garand. I haven`t shot one since boot camp in 1968.
ОтветитьThat's a sweet looking H&R Garand and with match ammo you did it justice. Nice second target. Don't be too hard on Dayattherange. He makes some very interesting videos. I enjoy both of you.
ОтветитьLooking super professional gunny funk
ОтветитьThanks HR!! Nice job!! Are you running Palma bullets in your hand load? I have some, but haven’t loaded any yet. Have a great day and weekend everyone!!😎🍻🇺🇸🦅
ОтветитьMy Garand (manufactured by Winchester in 1943) is dingy, battered, worn, and the most beautiful rifle I own. Thanks for the video, HR!
ОтветитьI'd went with a AR15 ... Vintage now baby!!
ОтветитьThose aren't Xs my brother ...need some young eyes to spot trust me I am having that issue
ОтветитьThanks HR I appreciate all the effort you put into your videos, and I learn something with each one. I also appreciate how you honor our veterans. I think you have built something very special with the channel. All the best!
ОтветитьWhere can I find the written rules for the challenge?
ОтветитьMay British rifles be used, or is the challenge only for the Garand?
ОтветитьM1/M14 videos, can never get enough, but we need a video on the Nylon 66 back there.
ОтветитьHR, my local gun shop has M1 Garands and 1 Winchester M1 carbine. The M1 Carbine is $1000, 1 M1 Garand is also $1000, and the other M1 Garand is $800. I can only purchase 1 of these amazing pieces of history. The M1 Carbine has import markings so its not a war issue, but perhaps a lend lease rifle. Which would you purchase? I can't decide which 1 of the 3 to bring home.
Ответитьi don't think your gal likes M2 ball. But all the GI's in WWII and KOREA shot what they could get. Not Match. Juss-sayin... Ooh rah, and i'm just hackin on ya billy. Ammo IS the deciding factor with my gal too...
ОтветитьCool video HR! Maybe peen GC splines a tad!
ОтветитьVery Cool
ОтветитьLooks like fun. I'll have to get the old M1 out of the safe and give it a run. By the way, not bad shooting for an old guy. LOL!...😂
ОтветитьM1 stuff🎉. Maybe m1A too??🎉🎉🎉
ОтветитьHR I have been AWOL from your channel. I have been blasting Grouse & Pheasants. It's time to get my rifles tuned up for Deer Hunting. I was organizing my Gun Safe yesterday and my M 1 Garand was tucked in the corner and it was calling out take me to the range . So now I have a good reason to. I think you need to find a new Spotter . 😆
ОтветитьThere are few rifles that can compete with the m1 in terms of satisfaction. Pleasant, powerful, accurate, intuitive, and full of character. The only other c&r rifle ive ever felt was as well made was the swiss k31, but the garand being a semi automatic from the 1930s makes it more impressive in my opinion.
ОтветитьI see your fingers over the op rod. You're not touching it, are you?
Also, when you get a chance, show us the use of the sling as you have it here.
Thanks. I have an International Harvester from the mid-fifties.
It's a great shooter.
The Coast Guard was the last branch of service to use the M1 Garand. I fired expert with it and also took Second Place in the Ninth Coast Guard District rifle competition in 1969. Learning how to properly use the sling is key to accurate shooting with that rifle. If you really wanted a rock solid shooting stance, especially in the sitting position, you tightened the loop around your bicep so tight that it left a blood ring. Sadly and to their shame, the U.S. Coast Guard “demilled” thousands of Garands by welding the receiver and barrel.
ОтветитьGreat content. The Nylon 66 hit my attention as well.
ОтветитьAdditional note. Total respect for opting traditional non bench work. Ret AF, even on our every 3 yr qual we did traditional shooting positions, kneeling, prone, barricade etc.
I digress.
If I shoot this, I’ll have to bench it. I belong to a very nice range. The “long” berm is 250 yards. A range rule dictates targets be placed at a certain elevation on the target stand to achieve safe impact to the berm. No exceptions to target placement. Shooting prone with this placement may cause hits close to top of above berm.
Final note. Tongue in cheek humor. If you’ve ever seen a beat up 59 yr old airplane mechanic with a hip replacement get up and down off the ground, it’s kind of comical. 😂
...I like that shirt..I have a few..including the M1 Carbine and M14...
ОтветитьDoes my match grade 308 M1 qualify? I shoot from a bench with bags because I'm old and I'm Air Force.
ОтветитьHR shouldn’t you be rocking a M-16A1 clone for your appropriate vintage? 😂
ОтветитьSumdays ya just need to get down the double barrel 😮😅😂
ОтветитьI had my M1 out on Saturday. Getting ready for the deer hunt. I would've been happy with both groups. If I try it, I'll use the 1903a3. Thank you to all veterans!
ОтветитьVery nice M1. I gotta ask, 168 SMK? My rifle does decent with M2 duplicate but I haven't tried the 168 SMK in this particular rifle yet
ОтветитьGod bless America. And may God bless the men and women who have the experience to shoot this challange.
ОтветитьHe may not be able to get down on the ground anymore...
Ответитьi shot in high power rifle match in 1970 - 1980. i shoot 200 yd, 300 yd, 600 yd with a m-1 rifle. i have shot at 600 yd with a score of 190 out of 200 prone
ОтветитьOh it is on now. Great shooting my friend.
ОтветитьEnjoyed the video Marine, Semper Fi.
ОтветитьGet those fingers off the op rod soldier !
Happy Veteran's Day HR !
Nice. I believe Mike has an updated target. I shot it yesterday. Good challenge!! I would not hamper myself shooting from the prone, slinged up. It doesn't say you have to shoot that way in the rules. You are really limiting yourself there. I may have to give it another go with some "match" ammo.
ОтветитьWell done. I don't see how you can make your calls that detailed. I am either on target or off on my calls with the front sight post being the width of the 8 ring. My effort from the sling was not great.
