My sisters and I, when we were kids, loved Danny Kaye as Hans Christian Anderson. I also noted that Daffy Duck did a wonderful parody of Danny Kaye in the cartoon, "Book Review".

We all knew Danny Kaye growing up as a singer, comedian and dancer and I enjoyed all of his movies. It wasn’t till I was watching the Phil Donahue show in I don’t know the 80s maybe and Danny Kaye was his guest and I just remember enjoying every minute of the show as he was putting Phil Donahue in his place. It was right then that I realized Danny Kaye was a very very intelligent man and very well spoken.

I'm from a Dutch Imagrant post WWII family. You don't have to understand the language of the movie to understand and laugh at the Commedy. He just made us laugh and made the World a better place to live in. It's great that we can still see him after he's left us in life .

Vulgar Boat men ,😁 you don't here that much anymore. You don't even much here Sailor with bad language. We are who we are .as long as we are good to each other and try to make things better . Let's not worry so much about being perfect. If you fall in horse shit / manure just put it to use and grow flowers of Tamatoe's.

In the 1950s I lived in Breooklyn, East NewYork. There were no fast food chains unless Carvel Ice Cream was a chain. Some nights my brother and I would take long and fast walks, just for fun. Often we would wiind up at a White Castle on Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn. It is on this Brooklyn Map. I can't believe that place is still there . Burgers were 12 cents, that number has always stayed with me. So the two of us ate well for about a dollar. Sometimes it was in very cold weather and sometimes in a snow storm. I wish I had more money back then, just another dollar would have been enough. I liked Mathau as a low key funny guy. Now living in Calif in the 1970s, I would occasionally drive the PCH from Santa Barbara to Santa Monica. Stopping in the Malibu Market one time I saw Mathau. He was carefully looking at every tooth brush. Just a regular guy. His Chino Pants had gone straight from the dryer to a wet pile, to dry naturally, so he was a schlump in real life, just like the characters he played. But he was man enough to do some of his own shopping.
