Mars is my favourite piece of classical music and I've listened to lots of versions over the years. My favourite has, of course, always been the first one I heard which was the Berlin Philharmonic conducted by Karajan. Whilst closer to the original score, most other versions have always sounded a bit too fast for me and I always went back to that one. About 35 years after I first heard this music someone has come along and performed a version that is equal to my favourite... and it's a bunch of yanks. Bravo, my american cousins! I didn't expect that, but I'm very grateful.
