I loved the movie, and this song was perfect. While not as good as the book, with a few differences that get on my nerves (No lower gravity on mars and changing the ending), I thought it was pretty good

All it’s taken is one event for humanity to unite. Weather that be the rescue of a fellow human stranded alone on another planet planet or an alien race posing an existential threat to humanity, we’ve shown that we we always put humanity first.

For me this scene was perfect, not only because of the choice of going for Mark, but specially for the agreement between China and USA, two rivals in some aspects working together in order to help, hope the world would be like that

I think this was the only time I've cried in a movie theater and it's not even a sad scene. I saw this movie with my brothers a couple of days after David Bowie's death, although I don't consider myself a die-hard fan of him either. I don't know, I just liked his music and I was really enjoying the movie, I've always liked space stories; or I was just enjoying going to the movies with my brothers again after so long. The truth is I couldn't say why that affected me so much, maybe it was that I simply didn't expect to hear this damn song at that moment. Lately I miss them, I see them less and less. Maybe I'll call them tomorrow.

In science fiction we often see the world unite to war against an alien threat. But here, there is no enemy but time and space. No battle except against despair.

there an extra bit in the novel. Where Chinese rep for their rocket mention that the satellite that was suppose to be launch with that rocket is not going anywhere. As he fought with Chinese Govt for funding for that rocket and likehood for Govt to approve funding for another rocket is unlikely.

If i remember it was Vincent replied back, paraphrasing " It at least 1 point for humanity" .

There's just no way in hell they would have built something like that to go to Mars. Just look at all the vast, empty spaces in the Gym.

You look at all the effort that went into the International Space Station and compare the space inside IT to the space inside this Space Ship.

No way in hell.
