Euro Pacific Asset Management Chief Economist Peter Schiff voiced some criticism of the Federal Reserve and sounded the alarm about the economy during an appearance Wednesday on "The Claman Countdown."

Schiff’s comments on the show came not long after the Federal Open Markets Committee (FOMC) wrapped up its latest meeting in the afternoon, electing to keep the central bank’s benchmark interest rate at its current level.

Federal Reserve Chain Jerome Powell subsequently gave remarks to the media about the decision.

Schiff told host Liz Claman the "biggest takeaway is that Powell basically admitted that they have no idea what’s going to happen."

Trump is destroying retirees with inflation and these rate cuts. Many retirees use interest rates and treasury bill rates to generate income, Trump wants to remove this. Retirees don't get any of the tax cuts he is proposing, Trump is hostile toward those on fixed or retired income.

As always, Trump's approach bothers me. BUT, this is one time I actually have to agree with him although the mere reduction in the Fed overnight rate does not necessarily translate into Treasury Security interest rate reductions at the various maturity issues. But it probably will and the interest cost to this country should be a concern of the Fed. What bothers me most about Powell, is his insistence that they are data driven, but now ignores data in favor of a prediction that tariffs will cause inflation.

Congress called him? As in all 535 members the make up Congress. Hope he knows that the alleged money pouring in is money that Americans had to spend extra for products with tariffs.

I don’t know where he’s getting his numbers, but it isn’t reality. I really don’t get why people don’t get loud around him. His strategy is to always be the loudest one in the room. That’s all it is. If someone outshouts him, he is absolutely powerless. If sheer sonic volume is all it takes to shut this clown up, then I openly challenge Trump.
