I was working a FT job unrelated to art but now have been given an opportunity to go into the career I always wanted which is art and specifically animation/storyboarding. The only problem is I have no idea how to get started! How does someone who's spent the majority of their professional career in an un art related field get started? Perhaps it's a bit like someone straight out of art school trying to get their first gig? But again how does one do that?

Suppose I came from the world of web comics specifically, What kind of adjustments would I need to make switching from Webcomics to Storyboarding for network television like Disney or Cartoon Network?

like here in India I don't think there's any place for artist here apart from being an art teacher or a fine artist

I worked in UX design for several years working mostly on a website and app. It paid well but I was very unfulfilled. I considered animation as one path. I want to be in the world of storytelling and emotions. Thanks for making this!

I'm almost 24 and have doodled and scribbled but, assuming I'm not very good at all, is it even possible to pursue a career in something like storyboarding or animation? Or am I too late? Do I need a degree?

Thank you for this insightful video. The creative industry is not as diversified as it should be however these are a great few careers with stability in income.

We want to be supportive of your career but when you are including pagan or demonic things for children then it is a danger to feed impressionable minds such things so in future influence your employers to only make Judeo Christian stories as people will boycott pagan things about anything demonic or pagan false gods so tell your employer that they do not want to lose money so if they want supported and blessed then create only Christian Jewish themes with moral value and character. That is missing in todays world. There needs to be more quality work from top artists working on good morality projects. So no more dark no more pagan themes please, only make good things for the whole family to view.

There’s also a book called careers in art by Blythe Camenson that goes through and gives description on careers in art. They have professional artist statement and what they did to get into the field. It has fine arts, graphic art, art education, arts sales and many more. It tell you about colleges and universities training and more highly recommended.
