I agree that new investors are better off starting out with ETFs over individual stocks for the reasons stated in the video. Excellent advice 💯

turned this off after the first statement. You are 50 years old between the 2 of you. If you are under 45-50 dividend investing is STUPID! Being in the market for 35 years I can 100% tell you that the taxes incurred are insane! And NO, dividend ANYTHING isnt "safer"! You either have some of your money in Bonds, CD's CLOs, etc and the rest in INDEX funds! Period! Why incur a 25% capital gains tax only to reinvest the money!?!?!??! Come on guys, SCHD, SCHG, SWPPX and add to them every chance you can! LOW expense fees and no capital gains! Erase this unproductive video. And LEARN to sell your shares! Why do you think Buffet Berk-A,B doesnt offer a dividend!?!?!?!? Divs are a suckers bet

I enjoyed this conversation…🎯💯
Thanks for the information, I’m just starting to learn how to invest 2 years ago, but one thing for sure that I’ve been doing since I was 15 years old, administrated the money I have, be smart with your money and don't spend your money in what you don’t need.🙅🏽‍♀️

I’m 48 now and I opened a 401K before and after taxes when I was 33 😮‍💨 it’s so important important to have both (401K before and after tax).
Last year from the 401k after tax, I took money out, I just had to pay a fee on it less than $300, and I don’t have to pay back the money.

I didn’t want to take money out but I needed it.
I was able to pull out $9000 out because last year I was so sick with the Covid that I was out from work for 11 months, after 6 months of short term disability, I was just getting pay long term disability from work which is 50% of my paycheck and that was just covering my rent.

ONLY open a credit card to pay your bills, pay the credit card in full every month and you get money back for what you spent BUT don’t spend the extra money,🤷🏽‍♀️ instead use that money that your credit card is giving you in paying what you already spent.

I don’t like to waste money, I love to travel and I don’t like to have unnecessary extra bills.

Thanks again for the video and the advices.

In 2018 I bought my first individual stock from cash my dad left me in a hiding place at his home. That first stock was NVDA... NOT KIDDING. Till this day I have only one individual stock, Nvidia. I'm thinking I should sell some shares and reap some of the earnings - maybe take a trip or something.

it crazy to me that people scream about $2000 in monthly dividend income when the average Gen Xer, retiring in 3 years, has about $150,000 invested TOTAL. The average monthly social security check is like $3200 per month and pensions are a thing of the past. To withdraw $2000 per month means he has a $700k portfolio paying 3.5%. I think this is a symptom of influencers from Suze Orman (“you’re not even comfortable until you’ve reached $10 mm”) to crypto influencers who are like, “I made $33 mm overnight last night” (never mind you can’t verify what I’m saying and I will probably be in jail soon). People’s perception of money is so distorted. $2000 is really good. Granted, you can’t retire on it alone but it sure can make life easier.

At one time, I held individual dividend stocks such as MO, O, SO, T, BMY, F, KODK, CAG, GM, and GE.

After General Motors and Kodak declared bankruptcy, I decided to diversify more by investing in Mutual Funds and Exchange Traded Funds such as SPYD, JRS, KTF, VWINX, UTG, QYLD, SPYI, QQQI, and JEPQ.

SCHG seems far superior, especially if you have such a high conviction in MSFT. It follows a great index and there is far less tax drag. If the idea is to live off of the passive income, wouldn’t it be more tax efficient , and you would have more control over your annual income if you just sold shares?

Investing in close-end funds that pay dividends every month appeals to me. The secret is to hold for a long time, reinvest the monthly dividends, and purchase additional shares whenever you can afford to do so. Since close-end funds are bought and sold on the stock market just like ordinary stock, this is simple to accomplish. That would be sufficient to build a portfolio that would generate dividend income ranging from $50,000 to $70,000.

I just have to applaud your content man, well done. Long term investors know that the market and economy will recover eventually, and investors should be positioned for such a rebound. I gained $180k from bitcoin in 2021 before the market crash and now I'm buying again, adding more at a time. Having a good financial advisor like Helen Curtin, it will add to your success in the crypto market.

I have been a dividend focused investor for a long time. This does not mean I don't own growth stocks, I do. A well rounded portfolio should be a mixture of both categories. One way to minimize the anxiety out of stock market investing, is to make sure you keep a large cash cushion. I invest in the market, but never put all my money in market.

Kicking off this year with such high hopes, especially with Bitcoin, has been a journey. Let’s be real while hodling has its place, those waiting for only the big skyrocket moments might be missing out. Day trading has given me more steady, consistent growth thanks to Ulric Don Bruce Jr guidance and his daily signals. Couldn’t have done it without him!

I’ve been investing for 5 years, and I started with mutual funds. Over the years I’ve changed my focus to investing in ETFs. I prefer ETFs because I want to know the sale price of shares, if I were to sell. I invest minimally in stocks, due to my age and risk tolerance. Stocks may have higher returns, but they’re also riskier, which I don’t prefer. I also don’t have the know-how to read and properly interpret company financial statements, and I’m not committed to learning how, so for me, this is about knowing my limitations and adjusting my investing approach accordingly.

Ryne is younger and probably has a higher risk tolerance than someone my age, 54, which explains his approach.

As a disabled person, I cannot work, which means that I can’t invest in a 403 or Roth. I can only invest in a brokerage account, and I predominantly invest in Professor G’s 3 ETFs. To compensate for possible taxes on gains, I just save for taxes in a HYSA. This way, I’m ready when tax time rolls around.

Thank you both for sharing!🙏🏼❤️

Great video. However, I think every time VOO is mentioned, you have to say something about SPLG. VOO and SPLG overlap nearly 100% over 5 years and most new investors can't afford VOO at 550/share (some good brokerages don't allow partial share purchases and it has a 0.03% expense ratio). SPLG on the other hand is 70/share with a lower expense ratio (0.02%).

I really wonder why neither of you look at funds like NEA or MHD etc. for the taxable account - <>5% tax free municipal income - yes, the fees are high, but not as high as tax on dividends - even qualified dividends... Put some $$ in there and leave the DRIP on for 20 years! Ticker symbol MAIN has also been really good to me in the ROTH. A really excellent video though - thank you!

For those who live outside the USA but invest in your country and pay a 30% tax on the dividends, which strategy is better? Grow ETFs or dividend ETFs, even counting cost average into the calculation. In the end, who is going to end up winning?

Big question here, so say I invest every month every year for the next 20 years in a dividend stock or etf in taxable account it means every year i will pay taxes on those dividends even if I re invest it all, but when I reach my 20th year and say I want to start getting those payments to my bank account, do I still owe taxes on that money or only on the next upcoming new yearly dividend payments for the 21st year and thereafter
